I decided to read this book to my Year 2 (ages 6 and 7)class because we had a spare five minutes before our literacy lesson ... the children were so fascinated with the book and had so many questions and points to discuss around the text that it ended up taking over forty minutes! They were fascinated by all the things going on - literally under their feet! - and wanted to know more than the book actually told us, although I think there was a good amount of detail within the pages. The illustrations were informative without being too 'text book'-like, and it did feel like a lovely mixture between a story book and a non fiction book. It is certainly a book that bears going back to again and again.
