I got this book for my 3 year old nephew -
and it's probably his favourite of them all.

He treats each page like a hidden object puzzle - trying to find everything he can.
He will happily spend ages looking at it by himself.
(which is good for him - but I miss reading it to him then..;-) )

At the moment - it's the first book he asks for - I think because he participates in 'reading' it.
He still loves stories - but this is 'his' book.

A book to return to again and again. The illustrations are artistic, funny, beautifully coloured and fascinating for a child, and the concept is clever and hooks you with every page. Basically, where you see a thing on the page marked with a letter of the alphabet (say, a squeezed-out tube or marks on the road), you have to guess the object they were caused by, or hide. This begins with that letter. You find out what it is in the illustration on the next page, which contains more lettered clues. Some of the answers are easily guessable, some more cryptic, and some positively surreal. It's a really good alphabet book for a child who's gone beyond the "d is for duck" stage, and would definitely be on my gift list for any child with a creative imagination. Kitamura at his best!

This book adds a delicious element of fun and discovery to the normally tedious task of learning the alphabet! The clues to the letters are imaginative and fresh... Children will hold their breath as each page is turned, not knowing what it might bring. Lush, whimsical illustrations complement the guessing game. Keep an eye out for the amusing little details on each page! What's Inside: the Alphabet book is a wonderful addition to any child's library. Education has never been this fun!
