This is the first book in a series featuring New York TV journalist Robin, who ends up involved in murder, mystery, deceit, jealousy and various other grisly things. The style is very much the slick American thriller, though the heroine is gutsy and flirty and generally the kind of woman you'd like to go out drinking with. Certainly a much better read than most of the vapid Bridget Jones wannabes that are floating around and proves that single women in their 30s don't sit around wondering about how to get a boyfriend all the time - sometimes they're more concerned about how to wash blood out of their party outfit...

I came to this book having read all the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich and hoped to find more of the same. Its a fun read, but the plot is quite weak, and so I dont think it measures up to Evanovich. All the same, I did enjoy it, and will read more of this author.

If you like Stephanie Plum, you'll love Robin Hudson. She is a news reporter that has been demoted due to her propensity to commit social faux pas on air. It is laugh out loud funny.
