Product Description

Courtesy of watching his mom’s relationships, Sebastian Hawkins knows what girls need to do to get a guy. He has what he considers a PHD in hooking up. When he needs extra cash for a car, Sebastian starts an online venture as The Hook-up Doctor, to anonymously help girls land the guy of their dreams. Of course, his services don’t offer a happily-ever-after guarantee. He’s seen firsthand getting together never means staying together.

And then he falls in love…

With the last girl he would expect…

Totally not in his game plan.

Suddenly, Sebastian finds himself muddled in the game he’s always prided himself on. He can’t even pick up girls at parties anymore! Why would anyone want to be in love when it turns you into a stuttering, screwed-up, mess with really lame stalker tendencies? Stalking? Totally not his gig.

But the Hook-up Doctor won’t let himself go down easily. He’s always known how to give a girl what she wants and now it’s time to figure out what a boy wants… and he definitely plans on getting it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whoa! My New Favorite! 10 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Wow! I haven't liked a YA Contemporary this much since Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. You know how much we all loved that!! It was such a pleasant surprise. I actually read it in one sitting. I was making dinner--aka warming something up--and I was glued to my Kindle the whole time. I couldn't stop reading. I didn't want to either.

Sebastian is such a cool guy. He wears Van's. I graduated high school in 1998. All the cool guys wore Van's. Brought me back in time a little bit. I love his carefree attitude, but when he falls in love he gets all mushy gushy and it's hilarious! I loved being inside his head, knowing his thoughts and seeing things from his point of view. I wish this book was written when I was in high school, I could have used it. Sebastian is a great character and he's loveable in all the right ways.

You think you know from the very beginning what's going on with this book. You almost can even say, "Oh I know what's going on. Do they think I don't know?" Then you realize you are suppose to know what's going on. But then you see that you had it all wrong! WHAT?! I know...just trust me. It all works out. There are plenty of surprises. Which was a breath of fresh air.

The romance of it all. You know me by now and understand that I need a book with some romance. All kinds. I need swoon worthy moments and kisses that will take my breath away. I got my fill here with What a Boy Wants. My heart melted quite a few times. It was perfect.

I'm not spoiler-y in any way, so I don't want to really go into the story details. But I will say its got a slight feel to the film Hitch, except way better! YA style! This should really be published by one of the Big 6. I'm so impressed. You're also in luck!

Exciting, fueled by electric tension and suspense this book certainly exceeded and surpassed all my expectations. I found the conversational tone highly readable which combined with some colloquial language, makes this a book that many teenagers will enjoy (as the author `gets' the age group of her characters). Nostalgic and remicent in places of my own school days this is something that will appeal to those who prefer Biker Grove rather than Skins (ref. television drama series') in that it is more dreamy than steamy! The main protagonist was a very likable character and whom I could connect and relate to due to the expressed feelings and emotions that the author captures in her writing. I did however get the underlying gist of this story after a few chapters, but despite this (with the mystery not so much of a secret anymore) it did not detract from the enjoyment of the book.

Sebastian Dale Hawkins, aka. The hook-up Doctor is a guy who likes to have a fun time without any ties, by means of partying and kissing lots of girls. His online blog is where he uses his supposed knowledge on `hooking-up' with the opposite sex, to help girls get their guy...although not guaranteeing that ultimate element that one seeks in any relationship - love. He soon gets another client known as PA and finds it uncanny that she seems familiar, weird?! His friends Pris, Aspen and Jaden eventually help him to see what is important within life - as after all that is what friends are for.
Seb is scared of a `serious' relationship as observing his mother over the years, he is expecting it to fail and so doesn't want to hurt anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun light read 12 Aug 2012

**4.5 stars for this one**
If you are looking for a light fun read, don't look any further! This is the second book from a male POV I read a couple of weeks ago(the other one is Night Sky, which is great as well!). So there's this dude Sebastian who is too cool for his own good (well at least when I was a teenager boys wearing Vans were cool ;-)), and who gets almost any girl he wants just to drop them as fast as he picked them up. He thinks he has it all figured out and decides to make a business out of it by setting up a website ('The Hook-up Doctor') to help girls get the boy of their dreams. Sebastian knows he's just offering a quick-fix and he's not under the illusion that he can offer love for his clients - because there is no such thing as love.. right..? And than it happens: he might be falling in love with a girl. And it's his best friend of all people! Oooh, I just love how he turns from übercool to lovey-dovey and all mushy in his head, it's hilarious!! :D Seriously, it's such fun to see him go through all of these emotional stages, from confusion to denial and finally acceptance. However, will he get the girl or will he alienate her..? You will have to read it if you want to find out!(less)
