4.0 out of 5 stars Another Retro Update 10 July 2007
Format:Audio CD
As seems to be common at present, this song takes a classic (in this case, Bizarre Inc's 'Playing with Knives') and provides an updated take on things. Essentially, you can think of this as the Bizarre Inc instrumental mashed up with a bit more bass and some new lyrics.
The mixes offer some different takes on the song. Tracks 1 and 2 are the standard radio edit and full-length version. Track 3 is similar to track 2, but better. It's catchier, the Bizarre Inc sample is clearer and there are some electro riffs in there. Track 4 is a much more electro version of the song, while track 5 increases the bassline so effectively most of the song is in that region. This is the track that really deserves to be called 'Big Bass'. So, for something light and upbeat, go for tracks 2 and 3, while tracks 4 and 5 have a much darker feel.

All in all, this is a good anthemic track, with a mix of the song to pretty much suit a variety of styles. But then, starting with such a well-known song, it's hard to go wrong.
