Spend a couple more dollars and get... 7 Jun 2005
By JunkyardMessiah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
...the definitive "Best of" DVD, "I'm Only Looking", which came out in 2004. That DVD has ALL of this one's twenty videos, PLUS five more -- including BITTER TEARS and the controversial and sexy TASTE IT video. "What You Need" doesn't have any of the wonderfully insightful commentaries, live footage, remix videos, montages, interviews and photogalleries of "I'm Only Looking". I'm still giving this product four stars because I could never completely trash INXS or their inspired, infectious videos. Plus, with this collection, you're definitely getting your money's worth -- Fifteen bucks is nothing for twenty great videos -- and NEED YOU TONIGHT/MEDIATE are worth the price alone. But that said, you can get twice the bang for your buck by getting last year's release, which costs roughly ten bucks more.

Why are they releasing this scaled down version? Perhaps to give new fans a taste of the glory of INXS before "ROCK STAR: INXS," the new reality show starts up in July. I guess it's a good thing for those who like INXS but aren't dying to know every little detail, but if you're an old school fan, skip this and go for the meatier DVD.

Good for the price but "I'm Only Looking" DVD Better 27 Aug 2005
By C. Young - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
There are 25 videos on "The Best of InXS" DVD (not 20 as on this one) including the infamous 'Taste It'and the second disk includes live performances and a number of other rare videos.

What You Need is What You Need if You're Just a Beginning Fan. 13 May 2006
By Lovely to See You - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
I began listening to INXS in my early 20s, but this is my first video collection. I will say that the title isn't misleading. You get exactly what it says: the video hits. I will have to check out the DVD the other reviewers have recommended here, because I was hoping for a bit more myself.

In any case, if you're a newcomer to the band, you will quickly come to realize just how badly missed lead vocalist Michael Hutchence is because his presence was just that strong. The man oozes pure sex appeal, and I still maintain after 16 years that he would have made a better Jim Morrison in the Doors movie than Val Kilmer (No, I'm not knocking Val, because he was good!). You will also observe a band who delivered very solid videos, but their music was the kind that stood on its own. As a first video, it's a substantial place to start, but now I'm curious about the Only Looking DVD. Hoping this one is your stepping stone as well.
