Product Description

Product Description

What is a wiseman? What is a prophet? Someone with a strange, unflappable demeanor. Someone who speaks in cryptic koans, words whose meanings take years to unravel. Someone who has confronted death, God, sin, and the immortal soul. Someone unfit for this world, but too brilliant to depart it. Someone - in short - like Keith Richards. Here, at last, the wisdom of this indefatigable man is recorded and set forth. These are his visionary words: 'I would rather be a legend than a dead legend.' Or 'Whatever side I take, I know well that I will be blamed.' And - indeed - 'I've never had a problem with drugs, only with policemen.' Not merely a compendium of wisdom, this book is also a complete guide to the inner workings of a complex and inspired belief system, and the life of a man sanctified by fame. What Would Keith Richards Do? reminds us to learn from our mistakes, let our instincts lead us, and above all, do what Keith has done better than anyone - survive.

Love this book. A very original idea-- a tongue in cheek "self help" guide through the wisdom of Keith Richards. And yet-- when you read what Keith has actually had to say on various subjects throughout the years, you realize exactly why he has been routinely hailed as "the resident philospher of the Rolling Stones." Also, it's a good guide to the art of survival, coming from the man who has made survival an art. It is at times hilarious, with quite a bit of stuff that hits deep. The timeline is interesting-- putting forth quite a bit of trivia from Keef's "timeline of trouble." Well researched and well documented bibliography. A really good gift book for a Stones fan, humor fan, novelty book junkie, and especially for someone who really loves Keith. Recommended

Oh, if we could all live like Mr Richards, and have his wit and wisdom; Keith is our modern day Oscar Wilde. there are so many funny anecdotes and words of wisdom in this book, that you have to hand it to'Keef' he may be looked at by many people as the 'drug addled' stereotypical old rocker, but what people don't realise is how clever, intelligent and well read he is. this book gives different everyday problems that we all come across, and then asks 'what would Keith do?' e.g. Keiths response to the question, 'How he would like to die? he answered, 'Later.' or his opinion on Chuck Berry, "I Couldn't Warm to Him if I Was Cremated Next to Him." and when told he was on Mark Chapmans hit list along with John Lennon, he said "Other Peoples Shopping Doesn't Interest Me" it is a funny and clever insight into Keiths opinions on other Musicians, life, drugs and of course Mick who doesn't escape the cutting wit of Keith. he may be a multi millionnaire in one of the greatest rock bands ever, but as he says, he couldn't have written 'Coming Down Again' without his experience of drugs, and adds, "I'm this millionnaire rock star, but i'm in the gutter with these other sniveling people. it keeps me in touch with the street, at the lowest level." he is brutally honest about his faults and other peoples! a great read, and Keith is great philosopher without realising it.

This is a great, original book. A real tonic. (I've just finished reading Ronnie Wood's auto-biography and Keith's comments here on 'Keith Jr.' are hilarious.)

Unpretentious, distilled wisdom. With an underlying streak of genuine kindness. Rock's Mr. 'Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know' hits just about every subject in life straight on the nail.

Worth a hundred of the serious 'self-help' books choking up the bookshelves in Waterstones. Honest, practical and real.

Also incredibly funny. Try reading a page without laughing...

Hats off to Jessica Pallington West for putting this together.

Can't wait for his auto-biography to be released in October.
