This band were absolutely awesome. Completely different to anything else around. Their music was a breath of fresh air.
Three brilliant studio albums and a great live album from later on (if you can get your hands on it from somewhere.)
This anthology has the three studio albums and some John Peel sessions too. A bloody bargain, if ever I saw one.
I defy anyone not to be blown away by the likes of 'Ronnie Zamora','Fire' or 'Thunder and Lightning'.
The sheer quality of 'What A Way To End It All','Final Act' and 'Capaldi's Cafe'.
If this band reformed tomorrow, I'd pay good money to see them live again (however old they are now - forties or whatever.)
That's how great Deaf School were !
A brilliant band that came along at the wrong time. Totally underestimated by both the music label they were on & the music fans too.
Both missed out on something really special.
Buy this album (however old you are.) You would be a fool not to. When I played it recently on my 15 year olds big bass stereo, he burst into the room and said "Who's this ? This band is brilliant !" Enough said !
The rocky stuff and the strange different earlier stuff (that only 'Split Enz' really tried to match). He loved it all and so do I.
Deaf School. - Music that needs to be heard.
Buy it now !
Deaf School deserve to be heard. Ask John Peel.

What a way to end it all indeed! The anthology of Deaf School will sink the hearts of their many fans. This fantastic group wrote some incredible music and for a time in the seventies, it seemed they would conquer the world. It didn't, of course, happen but their legacy is honest inspirational songs incorporating rock, punk and smooch! And from where did that french influence come?
I suppose the really sad part of Deaf School is that if they started up now instead of in the seventies, they would probably be more successful than they were. You can play their songs today and they stand the test of time. There is no dating, no fashion-failing.
So this album. Is there anything you need to know? Not really. To single out tracks is always problematic but you should make sure you give tracks like Room Service, Taxi, Second Honeymoon and Final Act a proper hearing. And then listen again.
And I'll tell you something else. If you give nothing else for Christmas this year, give someone this album. It's absurdly cheap and probably represents the best value music CD available.
The world will be poorer if they don't perform again.

It's hard for me to be objective about this music because it means so much to me. How would I feel if I heard it today for the first time? That's difficult also because if I'd never heard it I wouldn't be the person I am today, it's that crucial to me. To me they are not just the greatest band that never made it big or musical innovators or even a damn fine night out. They are and always will be an integral part of my life. They moved me, enveloped me, developed me and inspired me. From when I first saw them at the Back of the Moon and the Catholic Club and the college dances through all the albums and the spin-offs and solo careers I was with them, in spirit if not body. And here it all is in one package. The wistful, the heartbreaking, the querky, the thought provoking and the kick up the bum rocking. Most of all, though, they were real nice guys.

If you were there buy this and you'll be there again. If you weren't there but this and find out what you were missing.

30 years nearly since they last recorded a tune and they sound as good today as they ever did then. Sheer poetry in motion A band that had to be seen live to really know how good they all where and boy they where brilliant saw them about ten times have followed them ever since. I still have the signed pic from Bettie Bright aka Mrs Suggs

I still dream of the night she kissed me as they came off stage in the Eric's club in Liverpool all hot & sweaty.

They played a couple of gigs last week in Chester & Liverpool I was gutted as it clashed with a holiday to the Middle East.

This album is sheer talent at its very very best you will not buy a better album when you consider they are 30 years old.

One day they will get there true recognitition but in the mean time trust me go and spend the best 13 quid you will ever spend.

Give it a week and you will know every line and chord.

Liverpool music at its very best.

2nd Honeymoon came out when I was 13 and by the time I was 15, it was all over. Now after years of my old albums getting to worn out, the CD Ive waited for is here. How this band never ruled the world I dont know, just to ahead and behind the times, to original and not at all original, just to much of that style and talent that makes it hard for people to put them in rock ,pop or new wave box. When you look at the other bands from that time who made it big, what you see is that they were all much the same. Deaf School left 3 great albums and an influence that has been heard in countless bands since. The best CD of the 2000's. You must own this!!!

It may seem a little too much to call this the best CD of all time, however Deaf School were so ahead of their time that I'm still not sure if the rest of the music world has caught up. This CD is such brilliant value. Not only do you get all 3 albums but a whole heap of raw JP session. Deaf School were always at their best live and I'm sure I will never see a better concert than their farewell gig at the Liverpool Empire. If you only have one CD in your collection then this has to be it. One of the greatest losses to Music is that Bette and Enrico didn't continue to record (come on Suggs give the misses a push to record some new songs). The 47 tracks here are the most visaul pieces of music you will ever hear. Forget Queen/Rod stewart/Abba the musical. Deaf school are the ultimate soundtrack to life, love, hate, fun and death. The vocals and music on these 2 CD's are so rich and enveloping - stick the earphones on and get lost in a very unique world. Buy it NOW or regret forever.
