Product Description

  • Catching trout simplified
  • A brilliantly written and well-crafted exposé fly fishing's greatest myths--selectivity, matching the hatch, pressured fish, fish feeling pain, precise imitations, drag-free drifts
  • Recipes for the author's tried-and-true patterns
  • Practical, down-to-earth suggestions for catching fish
  • About the Author

Bob Wyatt writes, paints and fishes from his base in Middlemarch, New Zealand. Since cutting his angling teeth on the freestone streams of southwestern Alberta in the 1950s wild trout and everything about them has been pretty much a full-time preoccupation. His writings have appeared in Gray s Sporting Journal, Fly Rod & Reel and Fly Fishing & Fly Tying.

Another excellent book from Bob Wyatt, following on from his 'Trout Hunting' a few years ago. Thought provoking and insightful based on years of experience. A man definitely in the 'presentation' camp. Rather than carrying myriad patterns, Wyatt relies on GISS and correct presentation of a fly and makes you wonder if all those patterns you carry are really necessary....probably not!

Dispels a lot of the myths that surround artificial flies. An invaluable read for any angler. Would have given it 5 stars but some of the points are a bit laboured. It is a must read though and some of the points are brilliant.
