This is a brilliant book for anyone who as result of their Christian (or other) beliefs doesn't want to embrace a gay lifestyle and wants to experience relief (either sometime or permanent) from bondage to same-sex attraction. Actually, I think all Christians should read this book!
About twelve years ago, after discovering that two male friends of mine were gay and unhappily so, I embarked on a quest to understand same-sex attraction better. I wanted to understand it's causes (if any) and comforts, starting from a biblical point of view and to understand what can or cannot be done if a person chooses not to embrace a homosexual identity. This book is one of about ten books I have read on this subject. What is amazing about this book for me is, that it is divided up into biographical style chapters in which each chapter gives you a particular person's story of how and when they realised they were gay, how they came out (if they ever did) and what the reactions of friends and family and the public at large, were towards them and their orientation. Not surprisingly, too often these stories start off very sadly, as you see in almost every case terrible loneliness and confusion on behalf of the person sharing their story and dreadful misunderstanding and insensitivity on behalf of those heterosexual people involved. The brilliant thing is, that these stories don't stay sad, but go on to show that with the right support (mainly help initiated through the Australian based 'Liberty Christian Ministries Inc') and an understanding of the bible's true perspective on homosexuality, many people struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction(USSA) can experience gradual, steady healing from bondage to USSA in Christ.
I have read this book over and over again. If you are struggling with USSA I can't urge you to read this book enough. It will be a tonic for your soul. If for no other reason, you should read this, to see for yourself that you are not alone and how the people sharing their testamonies have experienced acceptance, kindness, understanding and love from others who are committed to making the journey of blessing and healing from bondage to USSA with them. This book also offers a lot of support for the spouses, partners and family of those who are struggling with USSA and advice on how to help mutually heal and support them. I feel I can't really convey well enough how excellent this book is. This book is an oasis to the thirsty - Please read it!
