Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Award winning journalist Susan Clark has followed up What Really Works with this valuable version aimed at parents. While considerable research and in-depth first-hand experience was the basis of the first book, for the kids version Clark adds the empathy and passion of a concerned parent herself.

Not that the dense information makes this a hard one to navigate through, as it's organised into five parts which make easy reading. "Health Hazards, Traps and Traumas" covers the dilemmas every health conscious parent faces including vaccines, food additives and learning problems. "Natural Medicine" looks at natural health treatments from the perspective of treating children. "Food Talk" tackles the problems of catering for kids in a junk food culture, and "Your Changing Child" goes through the growth stages. Finally there is an A-z guide to remedies for everyday complaints.

Clark is sensitive to parents who might be all out for natural healing with regard to their own health, but worry whether this is 100 per cent safe for children. But as she herself stresses, this is not an "either/or" between natural medicine and conventional medicine. Clark's aim is to equip parents with resources that will enable to them to make informed decisions, and to provide ample ways of supporting your child's health. Her style is reassuring, positive, and practical--note that she doesn't advocate banning junk food, but instead suggests invaluable ways to minimise the damage. --Lorna V

Review

An essential guide for parents who know a little about natural health - and who want to learn a whole lot more.

This is a fantastic book, gives advice and information on nutrition and natural health for children. It's well referenced, practical and really interesting. I refer to it on a daily basis - it's permanently on my kitchen table! I also enjoyed How to Boost your Childs' Immune System by Lucy Burney, I think these two books go well together.

As a new expectant mother this book was recommended to me by a dear friend and I have found it extremely informative! It offers easy to use practical guidance on many aspects of parenting including the general health and wellbeing of children as well as how to treat common childhood complaints with homeopathic remedies which are readily available. Susan Clark even goes to the trouble of providing stockists of certain items!
The book also includes advice on how to banish the stress of parenting- she certainly thinks of everything!
