Review

Stephanie Laurens combines outstanding characterisation with action and sensuality, bringing larger-than-life characters to the page with such skill and talent that they become real. All I need is her name on the cover to make me pick up the book (Linda Howard)

Dillon, Demon Cynster's wife Flick's counsin has now grown into a well respected young man. He now has the privelidge of being the person who looks after the breeding register which is a great honor. Lady Pris wants to see this register to help get her twin Rus out of trouble. But will not tell Dillon the reason why. Dillon therefore understanderbly will not allow her to see the book at first.

A brilliant read full of intrigue about race fixing which Dillon manages to help to stop. We also see some of the other Cynsters such as Vane, Gabrielle, Demon and Devil. I now look forward to the next Cynster novel, I like many others wish she would write more about the six cousins of the bar cynster.

Well, what can I say? On the positive side, the plot involving horse racing at Newmarket is unusual and interesting, and the storyline of the plot moved at a fair pace. What this book lacks, however, is any kind of authenticity of the Regency period. Well-born young ladies did not wander around without a chaperon as Pris does. And the four potential rapists are humiliated in front of their mothers and in public by their victim, her fiancé and her brother. A nice touch, but highly improbable in Regency times. This action would have ruined the heroine in the eyes of the polite world, and made it impossible for her to move in society, regardless of the fact that she was the victim. And is it me? Does anyone else not think that Pris was unusually sexually aware for a virgin in this period of history. Even allowing for a vivid imagination - bondage???

Following on from that, I have to say there were far too many sex scenes. I love a bit of sex in novels, but it can be over-done and this one had me saying "Oh no, not again!" as they disappeared into the summerhouse......

No, sorry, this one was not for me.

The story of handsome Dillon (Cousin of Flick Cynster) and equally handsome Lady Priscilla Dalloway.

Having years ago got himself involved in a nefarious swindle involving betting at Newmarket, Dillon had fought long and hard to gain an impeccably hones reputation, and now guarded zealously the Register of all Horses eligible to Race.

Lady Priscilla had to uncover what was in the Register to try and help her twin (Rus) who had got involved with a horse switching swindle.

Together Dillon and Pricilla uncover swindle, which proves to massive and eventually fall in love.

It actually felt a little slow going in places, which could have been down to the tiny print involved if I was feeling generous.

I particularly loved the ending, especially how the four well born louts had their justice metered out.

All in all, I think a 3 *** star rating is the best I could do with this one.

What Price Love? seems to be a combination of the two! An odd idea, I know.

We meet Pris who is protecting her twin, Rus involved in the Racing World. Dillon now the curator of the breeding register whom of course involves Demon and Flick from A Rogue's Proposal. Pris is living a dual life - in breeches and in skirts.

Pris determined to get Dillon's co-operation and Dillon determined to gain Pris' attention only leads to another brilliant tale from Laurens - Long Live the Bar Cynster.

Another winner from Stephanie Laurens. A thoroughly good read as are all the books by this author. looking forward to the next in series. Although the books all have similar story lines and settings there is always something different to define them.
