1.0 out of 5 stars So, what of Cazal's future? 23 April 2009
Format:Audio CD
Purchased Cazal's long anticipated debut album off the back of their raw, grimey, gritty indie rock demos. After one listen to the record I was immensely disappointed. Gone is the energy, the real raw, clattering punk sound of Cazals. It seems being signed to an electronic label, Kitsune, they were pushed to edit in some samples, electronic beats, keyboards, synths etc. I stress the word "push" here, as most of the songs on the album are nothing like the songs of old. Synths, reverbs and keyboards do not pair with their original punk rock sound. It is painfully obvious that Cazals were desperate for a record deal, found one and then changed their whole outlook because they were being paid for it. Such a shame, a truly awful record

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent album 25 Nov 2009
By Jetsada
Format:Audio CD
Having never heard of them until Dot to Dot 2008, they were the best act of the weekend for me. Turns out they filled another slot later that day for a band that had to pull out so I missed the chance to see them twice which sucks.

However, just found out they've split up and I felt compelled to do my bit to give this album a rating it deserves.

Cracking tunes throughout. Top tracks for me are:

To cut a long story short, Somebody Somewhere and Life is Boring.

Despite those 3 tracks standing out ALOT I enjoy almost every track on the album which is full of guitar based riffs with light electronic synths in to enhance it and make it different. I've certainly not heard another band like them. Having not heard their early demos I can't really say how "electronic" they went but it's really not all that electro-synth.

4.0 out of 5 stars Igonore the other bloke! 6 July 2009
Format:Audio CD
Cracking album, no preconceptions on previous material as the other chap. Quality tunes throughout, poor innocent boys and to cut a long a story short are the stand outs for me. Well worth a dabble.
