I bought another copy of this book for a friend's child 20 years after my own children first owned it. It is a simple and engaging book with bold colours and teaches your child about how facial expressions relate to emotions ... e.g. on the page "when I bang my thumb I look like this" you turn the flap to see a crying face on the child that has hurt themselves. Further on ... a lip-licking 'yum-yum' face when the child is given ice-cream.

The simplicity of the text meant that the book had a second phase of use when my children were starting to read and wanted to try something other than school reading scheme books.

Still as charming now as in 1993!
