It's reassuring to have hate figures isn't it? From the feral scum that loiter round your street corner, to the spouters of insurgent rhetoric and state terrorism ( and Al Queda aren't much better), to Bono to Davina McCall they all make my blood boil .Yet paradoxically I never feel more alive than when I am venting my spleen at them for whatever reason. Now my hate list has a new member.....guess who?
Sandi Thom has, no arguments please, released the single most irritating song of the century so far with that appalling ditty about punk rockers and bouffant based flora. It was more annoying than scabies and now the bint has followed it up with another hideously contrived glob of sputum that contrives to be all deep and meaningful when in actuality it's about as deep as a puddle of worm pee.
The lyrics are asinine and clumsy, the melody insinuates like a botfly larvae and is just as aggravating and her voice like sandpaper on glass grates around your senses till you feel like dipping your head in a bucket of hot bubbling tar just to escape. The songs general message seems to be "Why isn't everything just really nice". It just isn't Sandi love, and tripe like "What If I'm Right" does not help.
Maybe my hate towards a marginal relatively harmless singer/songwriter like Thom is misguided, and is more of an indictment of me and my attitudes than it is of her and her music. But somehow I don't think so. She has put herself in the frame, the silly bohemian -lite wants all the plaudits so she will have to accept the brick bats ,not that mine will over worry her much. And on this I know I'm right.

Take it for what it is , a pop song that is no worse , and infinitely better than the majority of the tripe that has occupied the charts over the past few years . I realise that every one is entitled to their own opinion , but the previous review seems to be slagging off just for the sake of it .
