When my husband was diagnosed with heart disease, I ordered several cookbooks, this among them. While it contains much useful information and diet tips, it's a little extreme for our tastes. We are mainstream eaters, and some of the recipes in this book contain unfamiliar and hard to obtain ingredients and I know I'd never get my family to eat them.

I do like how the impact on the heart of the different ingredients is described, and perhaps will try more of them if we get adventurous. If you're looking for heart-healthy alternatives for favorite dishes, this is not the book for you. If you're looking to give your eating tastes and habits a complete overhaul, then this book is perfect.
