In Reon Laudat's sexy new romantic comedy, sparks fly and re-ignite an old flame...
When it comes to women, Harper Reynolds has decided he can live without them, especially one by the name of Ava Daniels. He hasn't spent any quality time with her since they were teens, when Ava befriended Harper and his Aunt Flossie. But when Flossie passes away, she leaves her beautiful Victorian house to Ava and Harper, forcing them to share the same digs.
Harper is dazzled when he sees the luscious lady Ava has become. The skinny little kid-who had a monster-size crush on him-has been replaced by a drop-dead gorgeous Halle Berry look-alike...
Ava, who thinks she's finally overcome her jones for Harper, is hurled back to square one. Harper is hotter than she remembered-a lot hotter! Flossie always hinted that she thought Ava and Harper belonged together. The trouble is, neither is looking for love. But living together-with only a thin wall separating their bedrooms-has a way of turning up the heat on a man and a woman. And it won't be long before Harper finally discovers...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fiesty! Highly recommended 28 Aug 2003
By C. Penn - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
As teenagers, Ava Daniels and Harper Reynolds are close until an unfortunate night of vulnerability and miscommunication results in disaster. Ava never forgot the rejection and Harper never forgot his unfortunate behavior. Subsequent encounters are either avoided or decidedly cool. Then years later Harper's Aunt Flossie passes away, leaving them in joint possession of her Victorian house.

Ava desperately needs the house to extract her brother from a poor living/school situation. Moreover, she wants both her father and brother to have the opportunities a better neighborhood would afford. But Harper is equally determined to help his favorite charity. He is part of a group that helps runaway teens and need has far outstripped resources. His inheritance would nicely accommodate their needs. In addition to struggling for ownership of the house, however, both Ava and Harper have their own personal problems adding passion to their conflict.

Author Reon Laudat delight fans with IT'S A LOVE THANG and returns to show just exactly WHAT A GIRL WANTS. While the theme might be familiar, Laudat adds a charming and captivating element with her delightful characters who lend the novel remarkable freshness. Indeed, Ava's grudge and Harper's guilt provide powerful impetus for a feisty relationship when they share living space. Their mutual desire is matched by their need to retain ownership of their inheritances, resulting in a rollicking read that keeps that sizzles. This fast paced, amusing ethnic romance will appeals to all lovers of romantic comedy. WHAT A GIRL WANTS comes highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warm and Fuzzy 10 Aug 2003
By Sharon J. Johnson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
It was love at first sight for Ava Daniels when she laid eyes on Harper Reynolds. So much so, she wanted him to be her first. That was when she was a teenager. But years later, she found she still loved Harper and he didn't want her love or anyone else's for that matter.

But Harper's now deceased aunt went to her grave trying to give Ava and Harper the thing she felt they needed and deserved, true love. She knew once they spent time together as mature adults, nature would take over, she just gave it and them a boost.

Another good one from Ms. Laudat, a great feel good story.

Ava Daniels, a freelance make-up artist and Harper Reynolds, a co-founder and director of a teen shelter, are reunited after a close friend and relative passes and names them both in her will. Flossie, Harper's aunt and a good friend to Ava dies and leaves her house to the two in her will. They both live in the house until they can figure out what to do with it. Ava would like to keep the house so that her father and brother could move in. Her brother would be able to go to a good school and live in a better neighborhood so that he can stay out of trouble. Harper would like to keep the house as an extension to the already crowded shelter.

Harper and Ava haven't seen each other since they were teenagers and Ava wanted Harper to "be her first." His conscience wouldn't let him do it; therefore, he stopped going around to his aunt's home for fear he might see Ava.

Ava thinks Harper still looks at her like she is a little girl, but that is further from the truth. Harper is tries to keep his distance from Ava because old feelings are starting to surface.

Flossie was always known as the area matchmaker. Could this be her last effort to get two people that are perfect for each other together?

Reon Laudat's story of love is funny, sexy and enjoyable. Ava and Harper's antics to stay out of each others way are very entertaining and fun to read. It does get a little slow in some areas but the colorful characters do make up for it.
