Book Description

Jordan Rivera was an ordinary kid with an ordinary family. Until a vicious killer took it all away from her, sparing her and leaving her broken. The murders destroyed something inside her and she spent ten long, silent years in an institution. Catching a glimpse of a news report about another ordinary family slain, Jordan breaks her silence. Now she’s out, and she molds herself—body and mind—into an instrument of justice.

While a young detective pursues the case on his own, Jordan teams up with members of her Victims Support Group, people, like her, damaged by violent crime. They have their own stories of pain, heartache, and vengeance denied. With their help, Jordan will track down the killer before he can ravage any more lives. Her own life depends on it.

3.0 out of 5 stars David Hume' s review 20 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I stumbled across this book by accident really. The author starts the story with a gripping plot, and develops the characters very quickly and skilfully.

The plots takes many twists and turns and you really don't see the climatic end coming.

The book is well researched and very well written, first novel for me by this author but certainly not the last.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read 24 Sept. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
First time I have read anything by this author and to start with thought the style of writing was very disjointed. However, as the story progressed it got better and better and I couldn't put it down. Gripping storyline leaves me hunting for more stories from this author.

this was a fantastic story brutal at times but I had to keep reading long into the night before I knew the killer was caught and I was safe. Super read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Holiday Reading 21 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have never read anything by this author before and thought I would try his wares at the bargain price of £1. It was certainly worth that. An enjoyable and easy read, it's quite a page-turner in parts. The identity of the killer is very obvious early on (he isn't wearing an "I am the killer" T shirt, but he might as well be). In fact, his identity was so obvious, I was waiting for it to be an Agatha Christie style red herring. Determining the identity of the killer did not spoil the book, this just allowed me to feel smug about my powers of detection! I would recommend this as a light holiday read.

3.0 out of 5 stars bafflingly uneven 24 April 2014
By Edie
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first Collins novel I've read and I would try him again - once - to see whether I just hit a bad one. He's eye wateringly prolific and I couldn't help thinking if he slowed down and put a bit more thought into this plot, it could have been a really classy thriller. Presumably he doesn't need to be outstanding. He just needs to keep producing.

The novel baffled me because it skidded between really beautifully written, tight, stylish prose into awkward and clunky descriptive passages, as if written by two people. The plot set up was strong, but the broad cast of characters meant too many were abandoned and underdeveloped. Most puzzling of all was the overt signalling of the murderer very early on in the novel. Short of wearing a badge that read 'dunnit' and twirling a moustache, there was only one character who could possibly have dibs on serial murder, and disappointingly, he was the one. Which meant that keen eyed police detectives, razor sharp computer hacks, and kung fu experts with grudges to bear had to be temporarily thick as planks not to work out what was so grindingly obvious to the reader from the outset.

But, there were passages written with such flair and economy, and flashes of warmth and wit in the characterisation that made me long to read another by this author. If any of his books is consistently as good as the best bits of this, I'd be hooked.
