I bought this book with a friend of mine in mind who was struggling with marriage issues and it was when my boyfriend suggested it a little unwise to give someone a book I had not read myself that I embarked on reading this book. Wow! This books truly hits to the core of who you are! As soon as I started it, I kept telling my boyfriend bits of what Mr Tripp was saying and as such he asked me to get a copy for him!

Together we have gone through this book, we are due to marry this year and even though this is a book for marriages in jeopardy I would recommend it to those who are in serious relationships and due to marry! It serves to save you a lot of future heartache!

Too often in life we blame the other when things go wrong in our relationship but Mr Tripp helps you see that its YOU who is the problem, not your partner! One of the six 'commitments' that inspired me was the one to confess and forgive. It can often be hurt upon hurt that we build up against our partner, to the point that they almost become our enemy! This book takes you on an inner journey and deals with a lot of things about you that you may not want to face, but it is only by change and by Gods grace that we can become that person God intended us to be to bless our partner! We have been challenged and inspired and this book has revolutionised our thinking and the way we do life with each other and the way we treat and consider one another.

If you are serious about having a marriage that works and that brings glory to God and blessing to both of your lives then get this book. If you want the type of marriage that Jesus died to give you then get this book! This is the best ten pounds I have EVER spent! Prepare to be challenged, and prepare to be changed. I am thankful with ALL MY HEART that God led me to this book. Its dynamic.

It would seem that anything written by the Tripp Family is full of solid Biblically grounded and yet completely sound advice.

What I mean by this is that I have read plenty of books 'based on Biblical wisdom' that have been a thorough waste of time, money and the paper they were printed on.

This is not one of those books.

It gets down to brass tacks immediately and carries itself from strength to strength.

None of the book's material will seem new to a regular Bible reader and yet the way that the information is presented will seem radical and life changing. Its ordering of the texts and its expounding of them is particularly stunning.

The book is so well structured and laid out that it is a joy to read even when it is exposing to you your own faults and how to address them.

This has quickly become a book that we gift to folks who are announcing that they are getting married.

It is a book whether you are considering a marriage, are newly wed or been wed several years [like my wife and I].

If 6 stars were possible I would award them.

Paul David Tripp has one great skill: he applies the gospel to life. This book sanely looks at the damaging effects of sin in marriage and the redeeming power of grace to enable two sinners to truly love one another and live for the Kingdom of God. It has many examples drawn from Tripp's years of pastoral counselling and is full of practical wisdom applied from the Scriptures. It is sometimes very painful reading as you see more clearly the selfishness in your own heart, but it is full of the hope that only the gospel of grace can bring. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone thinking about getting married or looking to enjoy greater blessing with their marriage partner.

This is an excellent book challenging the expectations some couples have of marriage in a way that encourages a positive response. It is easily read and would be useful to counsellors, to clients and to newly married couples seeking to address issues before or as they arise in their marriage. I have found this book very useful.
