Wow! 15 July 2012
By Valerie B. Lull - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
If you are into smoothies, you're going to love this book. Britt Brandon has put together one of the best books on smoothies that I have ever seen! Containing 300 recipes, you can make any kind of smoothie imaginabe. The author has built his book around a color motif and he separates the various kinds of smoothies by what color they are. Each color contains it's own set of vitamins and nutrients which are oulined at the begnning of each section (again divided by color) and each smoothie recipe has a paragraph at the top of the recipe talking about the nutrients in it. At the end of each recipe is a listing of calories, fat, protein, sodium, fiber and carbohydrates in that particlar smoothie.

The beginning of the book is like a tutorial on nutrition. He discusses each of the vitamins and minierals and what each one is good for and what color category it fits into. Chapter 2 is a listing of fruits and vegetables and again what each one is good for. He gives instructions on how to make the perfect smoothie and talks about herbs, and liquids like coconut milk, kefir, water and tea.

Most of the recipes look really yummy, but I have trouble with the vegetable smoothies. I tend to associate them with jucing. Some of the smoothies that did not appeal to me were Sweet Cabbage Collaboration, Blazing Broccholi, Romaine to the Rescue, Coconut Milk and Meat smootie and Mushroom and Cauliflower smoothie. Whatever your taste buds go for you are sure to find a recipe in this book that will please you. This is a great book, in fact it is the best book on the subject of smoothies that I have ever seen. -- Valerie Lull, Author, Ten Healtlhy Teas

Smooth informative & delicious 1 Nov. 2012
By Margaret Morgan-Hubbard - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
As the CEO of a small urban farm that teaches people about healthy eating, I found this book to be a delight. For a small book on smoothies, the introduction is one of the best and clearest small essays on nutrition in any book I've seen lately. You learn how to drink all the colors that the USDA "plate" recommends and know why it is important. Enjoy and get healthier!

this is my favorite smoothie book 24 July 2014
By Guusje - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Hands down, this is my favorite smoothie book. It's arranged by "color" which sounds really wackadoddle but ends up making perfect sense! If my co-op share has plums I turn to the "violet" section and if I have excess kale I flip through the "green" chapter.

Most of the recipes only call for 4 or 5 ingredients and none are esoteric or hard to find. Many call for Almond or Coconut milk - a plus for those who are lactose intolerant. Nutrition information is included.
