Product Description

To really gain an insight into how Winston Churchill managed WW2, you need to read the many thousands of memos he wrote during the war. Churchill's memoirs are packed full of stories and information, however they were written in the rosy glow of victory. The memo's tell the real story; written in the heat of the moment they provide a lasting imprint of who Churchill really was and, more importantly for my book, how he went about saving the west from an unspeakable tyranny.
To be clear, this is a business focused book with a twist. It is 80% history, 20% business and 100% entertaining and informative, with lots of surprises thrown in for good measure.. The subtitle of the book states "Practical Business Advice Based on Winston's WW2 Wisdom". There was something about Churchill that marked him out as special. Easy to say, challenging to detail. Over the 240 pages of my book I will share the nuggets of wisdom I have identified from my years studying Churchill's approach to running the war in a way that enables the reader to use this knowledge in a modern business environment.

A friend reccomended the book, a bit like me he was a businessman and a bit of a Churchill officianado. Frankly I don't read business "improvement books" but I thought the Churchill link was interesting.
The cover said 80% history and 20% business, I didn't count the pages but this seemed about right. I found the way the stories about Churchill were linked to business fascinating and very perceptive.
I was amazed by the level and detail and how much of the WW2 stuff I didn't know which was a real bonus
Overall I really enjoyed the read and would highly reccomend it.

I found this book thoroughly enjoyable to read and found myself making time to read it.
It was difficult to drag myself away and I kept coming back to find out what new story
from Churchill's war memoirs would be revealed with the next chapter and how it would
be related to business practice.

Recently at work I have had several crisis situations occur and only now looking back
on how I have and am dealing with these issues have I realised that this book has
helped me to improve how I deal with handling the customers expectations and relating
with colleagues and external organisations towards getting the issues resolved.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Its one thing to manage by dictation, bullying and fear. It is something entirely different to be ruthless, respected and admired at the same time. "e;

The point Churchill was trying to make when he used the phrase your past can be a bridle or a spur, is that people should endeavor to take positive lessons from the mistakes of the past, and not dismiss doing something just because it went badly the last time. By making the effort to discover why problems occurred and then creating effective plans to avoid them in the future, anything is possible. "e;
