DVD Description

The extended Director’s Cut of the international hit What the BLEEP Do We Know!? includes new scientific findings that supplement the original movie, and goes more deeply into the concepts explored. In What the BLEEP – Down the Rabbit Hole, interviews are lengthened and a full 95% of all interviews is never before seen footage exploring the links between quantum mechanics, neurobiology, human consciousness and day-to-day reality.

Featuring an hour of new interviews and two new scientists, Dean Radin, Ph.D., and Dr. Masaru Emoto, and author of The Field, Lynne McTaggart; and introducing Dr. Quantum in 20 minutes of new animation, this is the deeper film exploration audiences have been asking for.

The original storyline, which follows the journey of professional photographer Amanda (played by Academy Award winning actress, Marlee Matlin) as she comes to understand the sources of her depression and slowly change her life, is slimmed down to make room for more in-depth interviews with sixteen of the world’s top physicists, engineers, physicians, biologists, researchers, journalists and mystics, who talk about consciousness, psi research, physics, biology, emotion and addictions.

The scientists are the stars of this movie, and there’s no forgetting it. But they, too, are human. Never does the movie elevate them and their information as above ordinary human understanding. Indeed, the movie’s power and magic lies in the fact that it really makes us understand how human beings are connected to each other - to the whole universe - and how we all affect reality.

Quirky animation highlights much of the film, introducing highly complex scientific concepts in a simple, understandable way. Done with humor, precision, and irreverence, these scenes are only part of what makes this director’s cut unique in the history of cinema, and another true winner.

Synopsis

Applying basic principles of quantum physics to human psychology, this film consists largely of interviews with experts in related fields, who pose existential questions and answer them with theories of endless possibilities. They explain that reality is only as we define it, that matter is permeable, and that experiences in life should be approached as controllable by the human mind. Opening doors to broad ideas - that we could exist simultaneously in many realities, that we could be in multiple places at once, that we could observe ourselves from outside our bodies, that time travels backwards and forwards - experts encourage positive thinking and open-mindedness. A situational plot involving a deaf photographer who is assigned to work at a Polish wedding serves to illustrate how the theories discussed could be applied to everyday experiences. Meanwhile, intense sequences of computer animation offer illustrations of outer space, the neural functions in our brains, the way that various hormones work, and even some funny Jello-like characters representing chemical reactions in our bodies. A raucous soundtrack of 1980s tunes - Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love, and Animotion's Obsession among them - adds to a jarringly dynamic score. For viewers who gravitate toward New Age theories of enlightenment and self-knowledge, or those who enjoyed the sci-fi plotlines of television series like 'Star Trek', 'Quantum Leap', and 'Witchblade', this film will be a welcome addition to their library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get the US Edition Instead, 19 Aug 2006
It looks like the Revolver 5-disc UK edition was thrown together in a hurry. While the US edition comes on 3 double-sided discs, this is on 5 single-sided, colorfully labeled discs. What's missing is the interview of Masaru Emoto and all the interactive features of the US edition (e.g. you can't watch the 5-hour version with the drama parts turned off, etc.), despite being mentioned on the cover. Subtitles of the 5-hour version are an unlovely conversion of US closed captioning using a proportional font (i.e. all is in capital letters) and a few © signs where the conversion failed, and are completely missing on the 2.5-hour theatrical version and the additional interviews. So if you don't require PAL Region 2 and are able to play NTSC Region 1, get the US edition that even seems to include Spanish subtitles...

5.0 out of 5 stars Go deep..., 29 April 2009
By Graham McGrath "www.7th007.com" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This DVD is fascinating. The first two discs contain about five hours' worth of explanation from various scientists about Quantum Mechanics, brain function and so much more. Don't let this put you off. For a start, if you're even contemplating buying this DVD and reading my review, I guess you must have an interest in mind-blowingly enlightening, intelligent material. This is it. The scientists have a way of explaining complex, abstract science in an accessible way, mainly thanks to the editing and construction of the films. If you watch this and "get it", it will change your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing, 3 Feb 2009
By *Zoe* (Crete, Greece) - See all my reviews
The quantum edition of "what the bleep" is soooo much better than the first movie. It has all the extras and whole interviews about the things mentioned in the movie. I think the 5 disc version has a lot more interesting and useful stuff than the 3 disc one. It gives you the oportunity to study as deep as you want things that have to do with quantum physics, our daily reality, the way our mind and body work (and affect eachother!) and how you could use that to change your life!! Worth seeing again and again!
