Product Description

Product Description

From the celebrated author of the non-fiction bestseller LIFE AFTER BIRTH, a novel of life as a menopausal mum, and a teenage dirt bag . . .

Book Description

Sue is a forty-six year old GP, mother of two, wife of one. Frankie is her elder daughter, just fourteen, ready to start out in life. The pair are diametrically opposite in years and energy, yet both teeter on the brink of the next big thing. For Sue, forty-six meeting fourteen is where menopause matches adolescence, anxiety is a mother’s middle name, and the new best thing is going to bed. And Frankie? She’s thrown off the sugar and spice chrysalis, is surgically attached to her mobile phone, and is learning about boys, padded bras and the absurdities of her parents. Nothing in common? Well, for starters weight worries, man troubles and a shared desire to break free of the shackle that is home. Oh, and their emails and diaries… Wickedly funny, perceptive and at times very tender, WHAT ABOUT ME? is a wonderful portrait of real life in an average household, sure to strike a familiar chord with mothers and daughters everywhere.

The book is based on a 14 year old girl writing her diary over a period of a year and her mother writing about the same year to her sister.
It tackles the issues of how teenagers think the world revolves around them and how unfair everything is.
After 2 pages....i was hooked!! Someone had been spying on my daughter and myself!!
I saw my daughter in a completely different light, I had forgotten how it is to be a teenager, when you have issues regarding school, friends and bra sizes. Let alone the added stress of parents arguing and annoying siblings.
This is so easy to read, that you could easily put it down and pick it up a few days later.....i was just unable to put it down!!
One of the best reads in a long time.

what about me 19 Aug 2005
Format:Paperback
bought the book not having heard of Kate Figes. Very enjoyable read - got hooked within a page. Very moving, amusing, true to life, poignant. Passed it on to my 14 year old daughter who really enjoyed it too. My friend has also read it and passed it on to her 15 year old daughter - both enjoyed it. WELL WORTH READING and can't wait to read 'What about me too?' Kate Figes seems to be talented as fiction writer and self-help books!
