Appealing for kids but good intro for adults, too 12 Dec 2008
By Erich Hoyt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is my own (authored) book but I bought it through Amazon for a friend and so Amazon asked me to review it! I can only say that people assume that whales have been "saved" because whaling is much less than it was. Still there are thousands of whales being killed every year for various reasons (and if you include dolphins, hundreds of thousands every year). if you want to find out about what whale scientists, groups and a few governments are doing to help whales -- and at the same time to try to learn as much as we can about these fascinating social mammals -- this book will give you some insights both in terms of the state of the art photos and the stories in the text. The book is packaged for kids aged 9 to 13 but it also works well as an introduction for adults. Enjoy!
