About the Author

Sharon Eden wanted to be a writer and actress but bamboozled herself in her 20s, through a desire for 'normality' and 'respectability', into a corporate career in sales and marketing in the wine trade.Several whacks around the head in her 30s, fuelled by curiosity about what made her and other people tick, led her to higher education, studying psychology. She later quali?ed as a psychotherapist, then coach and trainer. Sharon's credentials include MA Psychotherapy, Member Institute of Directors, Founding Member Association for Coaching, Member European Mentoring and Coaching Council, UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Trainer INLPTA, Member Applied Psychology Association and Charter Member International Positive Psychology Association. She's been told that her skills and presence as a writer and actress, allied with absolute passion for her topic, are woven indelibly through her roles. They contribute to making her a dynamic, enlightening, humorous and sometimes surprising presenter, speaker and trainer. Sharon lives in a suburb of London, UK, and is lucky enough to be 20 minutes' train ride into town and 5 minutes' drive from the country. Both of which, together with delicious family and friends, nourish her and her appetite for life.Connect with her at www.sharoneden.biz and @sharoneden on Twitter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring 7 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
Last night it must have been a full moon because no matter what position I tried, sleep was just off the cards. I was further irritated by the fact that my boyfriend was smugly snoring beside me like a proud cat, I had a million and one things bothering me and whirring around my head and it just didn't seem fair that the noisy neighbours were keeping me awake and not him. Enough was enough. With the hope I would `unintentionally' wake him up, I decided to start chatting about all and sundry. Sure enough, my voice must have been suitably loud enough as he soon responded, making appropriate soothing remarks and tender comments in the hope to get me to shut up and go to sleep. It was surprisingly effective and I soon calmed down and drifted off. This morning, he had absolutely no recollection of the conversations we had or even waking up at all - I regretted even bringing it up to apologize!

Point is, is that we are capable of having conversations with people, interacting and affecting others even if we aren't fully conscious and engaged, and I'm not just talking about the conversations you shared last night over five bottles of vodka and on the way home on your ex's answering machine. Mine may have been an extreme example, but it's not far from what most of us suffer from during our daytime hours. Sure it's impossible to be completely engrossed and energized about everything we do, everyone we meet and at all times. All of us will have drifted from class to class, lecture to lecture, from one day to another dreaming of the end of play, the next ski trip or how many hours until the weekend. But it's more than this. You move step by step from one stage of life to another, probably punctuated by a few moments when you had to make a decision here and there, but you may find that you have been meandering along, floating from here to there little a empty crisp packet in the wind.

If this rings a little alarm bell, then before you get all defensive, let me introduce you to Ms. Eden. She's been there, done that, got the t-shirt and the postcard, and now has written the book to prove it. She's also got the evidence to show you that these days can, and will be over and with several whacks and wallops later, you'll feel like you've just been through a car wash to come out gleaming the other end.

If you're interested in moving from a state of `living dead' to being `alert, alive and response-able,' then Whack is for you. Its time to challenge the assumptions of where you'll end up, to think outside the neatly stacked boxes your establishments have created and to be valued for your individuality. Its high time you were rewarded for being different and unique rather than made to feel ashamed that you didn't want to be a lawyer or follow in the footsteps of generations of your family members.

Whilst Eden's purpose is to propel you into this world of endless possibilities, to allow you to `discover your purpose, passion and power,' you can rest assured that whilst its not easy, it will be worth it. You do after all have to suffer to be beautiful and there is no gain without pain. On the upside, it doesn't involve you abandoning everything and upping sticks to run for the hills. It's like being an alcoholic - you have to be aware of your situation to change it, and to really want to make those changes.

So over to you. What is your purpose and your mission? How can you get to the point where you are leaping out of bed on a Monday morning?

Is this enticing enough? Eden certainly is.

Take the time to evaluate and you will undoubtedly want to be awake to enjoy every moment. Now, hand me the whacker ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Working on purpose and not accidentally 3 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
I've had the priviledge of working closely with Sharon Eden, author of Whack Around The Head, PURPOSE PASSION POWER at work right now! for several months now on the promotional campaign for this book. Sharon knows that I seriously do think she has written an excellent book. Many people have accidental careers and are dissatisfied with their working lives: there is clearly a need for a book about locating our purpose. 'WATH' needed to combine absolute professional credibility and advice (which it does) with a healthy whack of realism and humour (which it does). We've had some superb media for the book so far with much more to come. This book will really resonate with those who stuck in a rut and just know in their heart that what they are doing isn't enough or represents more of who they really are.

My personal view for this book, as for others where we, the reader, hope to be transformed, is not to be a book flicker. The pure alchemy of Whack Around The Head lies in performing the exercises to find your eureka moment.

Sharon Eden, you are a diamond lady and a superb author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Experience Rebirth 17 Feb 2011
Format:Paperback
Sharon Eden is a brilliant author, an initiator and master of internal change. I dived straight into the book and I wasn't disappointed. Sharon uses positive language and engages the reader from the outset. The book is for everyone who wishes to 'live' their life and to celebrate their uniqueness and their 'own' great story! Every demon, excuse, voice, negative memory calling, is revisited and you really do run out of excuses to stay within 'your box' once you've finished the first few chapters! Sharon's writing style is fun, dynamic and punchy. I never knew 'self improvement' could be this 'HOT'....Sharon Eden works 'magic'. The book is SENSATIONAL, Do you dare to to change your life?
