My son has just turned 6 and has never had a dry night in his life. I hate buying big nappies for him (better value than pullups and IMO leak less) and it's now a real problem to do them up. I have read extensively on bedwetting and firmly believe it is something he would have grown out of eventually, (my husband wet the bed very regularly until he was about 9) however, I also think that it probably would have started to erode his self confidence and I wanted him to know we were being proactive about 'fixing' it.
We spoke at length about what the idea of the alarm is (maybe read some online info about how the message from the bladder to brain then brain to bladder doesn't get through etc) and I let him think about it for a while. I wanted him to feel like HE was deciding to have a go with the alarm. He eventually said he would (I mentioned it frequently though!)
The alarm arrived quickly, I could see straight away how it worked and I let my son have a go with getting it wet so he knew what the sound was like (not too bad). He practised putting it on his pj's and pants too. The first night he was really excited, I was really nervous. I recorded the wake ups just so we could review them and see if we were making progress.

I bought this as my 10 year old grandaughter was wetting the bed every night and we were at our wits end. My daughter had been advised to buy an alarm costing 100 euros, but when I read the reviews on this I thought it sounded worth a try. The more expensive versions are wireless but I really don't think it's worth paying the extra as the wire is absolutely no problem and the alarm is easy to use and reset. The star charts supplied with it are great, my grandaughter is really motivated and very happy that at last she has something to help her be in control of the problem. Her problem was that she is a very heavy sleeper and I had my doubts as to whether it would actually wake her up, but the combination of the alarm and the vibration do the job well and we have had very few accidents since she started using it 3 weeks ago, and now she is usually able to go throught the whole night completely dry. I don't think she'll be needing it after a few more weeks so it wasn't worth paying a lot more for an alarm. To make it easier to use my daughter sewed a little pocket into her underwear to keep the sensor in the right place, I would recommend this. The washing machine is heaving a sigh of relief- a great buy!

Our soon to be six year old son was showing no signs of ever being able to make it though the night. Nappies turned into bed pants and every morning he woke up wet. We followed the advice of the GP and never really discussed it being told boys were often lazier when it comes to dry nights and these things would just sort themselves out. Our soon to be six year old was starting to realise he was the only one in 'bed pants' and wanted to sleep over at a nighbours house but was too embarassed to do so.

He was keen to do something and having researched the internet a bit found this device which for just over £30 meant we had nothing to lose. We bought it online together and he was really looking forward to giving it a go.

The instructions are easy to follow and item well made. The enclosed star chart lets you make it into a bit of a challenge. It suggests a parent should sleep in the same room for the first few nights to help with trips to the toilet when the alarm went off. This I dutifully did (was nice to bond anywhere between twice and seven times a night for a week! not to mention the laminate flooring and 40 year old back).

The alarm goes off after the tiniest wet spot on their pants and after a while I guess they just get fed up with being woken up. He also slept on a towel - just in case. I never had to change the towel - or bed sheets - it is that sensitive.

After 7 nights he started getting up on his own, finishing off in the toilet and replacing the sensor and new pants by himself.

After 14 nights he simply stopped going. Here we are a month later and we have had 14 clear dry nights for the first time ever. For us, the results have been nothing short of fantastic.

As written in the instructions a child should not be alone responsible for waking up to the alarm, a parent need to be in the room to awake the child.

We started using this alarm in the summer vacation. My son needed to be awaken by us for some weeks when the alarm went on. From bedwetting several times a night he started to have some dry nights and nights when the alarm just went off once close to the wake up time. This ment we still got to sleep longer and less wet sheets.

Then we went out camping and school started again and he is back to bedwetting several times each night.

The alarm worked pretty well, both sound and vibration, for little more than a month. Then the sound stopped working, vibration worked though. Due to late arrival I had two of these ordered and the first arrived a couple of weeks after the second one so we had a spare when the first stopped working. The alarm in this first, spare, one also stopped working after a month.

I think that maybe he needs the sound to really grow in to dry habits and since now only the vibration works that will just not do it for him.

I would recommend this product since if your child is one of these children that gets dry fast the alarm still works. I am now pondering of if I should buy a third one of Wet-Stop3 or try some other brand.
