This is a compilation of four stories, and as is common in the erotic literature genre, they are presented in a way that adds confusion to their origins and real titles. The first two stories, presented as a single publication called 'Wayward Venus' might conceivably have been once published as a single volume, but they are totally distinct in subject and style. The first of the two concerns the adventures of a man with a divorced countess who has supposedly given up male partners in favour of a collection of lively young ladies intent on a hedonistic lifestyle. They all meet up on holiday, and then move the scene to Paris, where they are joined by a Russian princess. The princess quickly accepts the newly acquired priapic male member of the ménage, and even though she occasionally requires flagellatory stimulus of her back parts, all participants get along famously. The second part of 'Wayward Venus' is almost a re-write of the classic 'The Romance of Lust', in that its principal young male, George, has two willing sisters, succeeds in the seduction of successive governesses who believe they are providing his first experience, and enlists a male stranger in their joint activities. It may be that this story has been edited, as scant mention is made of George's first conquest, Mrs Barnett. Miss Imogen, the final governess described here, practises corporal discipline. The third story of the compilation volume, here called 'A Merry Ménage' is a reprint of the better known 'A Man With Three Maids', a follow-on to the classic 'A Man With A Maid' in which a mother and daughter (Helen and Maud) are entertained by Helen's childhood friend Jack, along with Helen's companion Alice, initially a virgin.Read more ›

A 4 book special worth reading 10 Oct. 2000
By Rudolf Spoerer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Wayward Venus are two books and two distinct adventures covering 238 pages.
Book One is told by a young man in late 1800's Paris and his good luck to find every man's dream of witnessing and then partaking in very descriptic orgys of followers of Sappho. Yummie
Book Two is the memoirs of I would guess 15 year old George as he is both introduced and also introduces his siters and his teachers into the ways, if you know what I mean, of the world .. This is a good book but not great ....
The Merry Menage is also a two book story comprising of approximately 200 pages
Book One covers the exploits of Jack a young man in Vitorian England that is invited to the country home of a close aquaintance of Helen, her mother Maude and her younger sister Alice. Since the country home, called the nunnery, was for removed from the excitement of the city the four of them devised the most delicious games.
This is also a book published under seperate cover by the same name ...
Book Two is like a shot from left field in thei 4 book tome and whle there was little or no S&M in the first 3 books this one starts with the chapter one title as 'Old Fashioned Discipline'. Fortunately this piece of poop only covers 45 pages. The intersting thing is that this book;et ever made the light of day since it endeavours and succeeds in describing spankings and then steals the anticipated sexual relief from the reader since it is mentioned but not described .. Thank goodness for my abilty to speed read...
All in all I guess Wet Dreams should rate 3 stars as interesting but not really a must have for our erotic book library ....

Wet Dreams (Erotic Classics) 18 April 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Actually, 4 books in one omnibus. While they are all classic Victorian erotica, all 4 seem to have been written by different people. I was unfamiliar with the first two styles, but the third book, The Merry Menage, was very similar to Man With a Maid (even to the names!). I enjoyed the first three, but the last book was more about strict discipline - there was very little erotic about it.
