Where the hood at? 20 April 2004
Definitely not westwood's studio. When you have sampled some of his albumsyou know exactly what to expect, great selection of the latest rapexploits out of the US and the best selction of rubbish out of TimWestwood. Much as I enjoy the humour that his blazing statements brng tome("Bow down and kiss the ring"x100), people buy the album for the music, not for them to be interuppted by a gangster wannabe.
On the music front, he has excelled himself. The use of the latesthits(Through the Wire-Kanye West, Holidae Inn -Chingy) blended with someclassics(Who Am I-Beenie Man, Heads High-Mr Vegas), mixed with celebrityinterludes, lead to the perfect album. Despite his slurries of hip-hophorrors, You cannot fault Westwood's timing and mixture of hisselections.
If you are not a regular to his rap show, on first listening, you won'trecognize many of the songs, but give it time and they will definitelygrow on you. You can always expect something special when Westwoodreleases his "joints".

No way geezer. Poor recording sound levels even the best hi fi would struggle to get any depth or feeling from these tracks. Most freebie CD's in the Sunday papers have better sound mixing. Why do studios put such albums out ...ker ching that's why.(The artists must be cringing)I would say these tracks have been ruined by (too much)wack chat surrounding the tracks and trying to mix it like a DJ. The only reason it got a star is because of a few carribean hits thrown into the mix on CD1- Kevin L, Beenie MAN ehh ehh. well if these are the hottest hip hop joints well joints is probably whats been burnt if you get the drift ---SHABBA....I have to laugh and move on .oh another word for dump comes to mind..lol

Despite Westwood's dubious verbal delivery, his selection of tunes is impeccable. Further, his connections in the world of hip-hop are second to none, as the most casual observer based in UK would deduce.

These two facts point to any compilation of his being of the highest quality. His previous compilations have demonstrated such high quality. However, quality is not always the same as immediate impact on the listener.

In this case, though, there is an identity: each tune IS of the highest standard (in terms of credibility and musicality) and (virtually) each one IS murderously hard. Think of as many genre-specific superlatives as you like: each is applicable to all these tunes.

Further, sprinkled liberally amongst the tracks on both cds, is a fair crop of hip-hop/ragga crossovers, by some of Jamaica's top talent, that fit seamlessly into the overall selection.

A must-buy.
