Hooked it up and it worked! Can't say how easy it was to back up my two computers with this hard drive. All in all I am pleased with this item.

Amazon Verified Purchase
This was the third external HD in a line of failing Hard Drives. All faulty disks where returned with a promise of a full refund so I can't really complain, but one thing that this whole show has taught me, something I'd forgotten, is you get what you pay for. That doesn't necessarily mean price, but certainly means named brands. The first two disk I bought where OK, came with there own backup software, but failed within days, and one within hours or receiving them. If you want to risk it with a clone Taiwanese copy then be my guest, but the question you need to ask is "How much is my time worth". If your prepared to exchange for working models, or just risk that it will work first time every time, good luck, and I don't blame you. There are some good savings to be had, and I have all faith in the companies that they will refund or exchange faulty goods. In the mean time I'm sticking to Western Digital, a name that's been around for donkeys years, and is by far not the most expensive drive out there...

I bought this hard drive to back up the kids media that was slowing down my lap top, we loaded up some films for the kids its very easy to just plug and play with various devices. Its faultless, you can see when its working because of the little blue light. You can leave it plugged in and it goes to sleep when not in use so nothing spinning and no power wasted. Quite a rugged little box. Quick note remove the WD back up software its useless and its not needed for a storage device, it would be a better product shipped without it!
