I wanted this additional drive for gaming leaving my existing PATA drive for Boot up Duties and System stuff.
Wanting a fast speed, large storage and generaly better performance I went for this SATA H.D.
I was unsure if it would run Ok with my original PATA drive. I was lucky in that my motherboard did have an SATA socket. (you can get adapters if yours does not) After doing a bit of research it appeared that no routing plugs were needed so I just plugged in the power hose connected the SATA cable and booted up. IT worked first time!! Yes I was suprised.
WD provide all the software from thier excellent site. After booting up again the computer recognised the new drive and attributed it with all the right properties. The downloaded program also allows a backup facility for your whole system which I put on my external WD hard drive. (Also V. good and the reason I got this brand.) This took about 6 hours.
In operation the unit has performed very well and there have been no glitches, It is of course early days but I have confidence in this WD stuff.
Finally, I was very pleased with price I got my drive for, a heavy discount made it a bargin.
Hope you found this useful.
