This drive seemed by far the best value external hard drive with a 2.5" form factor. It's a size that would fit comfortably into a jakcet or coat pocket, but definitely not a shirt pocket. There's a rubber flap that protects the USB port and power port. I had no problems running mine with just a USB cable, but I haven't tried it with a laptop.

What the info doesn't tell you, is that it comes with built in software that encrypts and backs up whatever data you choose. Using the software is optional, but I've found it fairly easy to master and very useful.

All in all, I'm extremely pleased (and relieved that all my data is now safely backed up).

Does exactly what it says on the box. No fuss, no nonsense. Plug it in and off you go. Very quiet, only the blue glow from the LED makes you aware that it's on. It doesn't heat up like my larger 3.5" external drives. Fits in my pocket and I swap my camcorder stuff between Mac and PC easily. I found it shifted data at about the same rate as my IDE channels. Well pleased. Nice price. It literally is about the size of a passport and about 3/4" thick.

As it's FAT32 formatted, it doesn't like files over 4GB so large video files can report the disk being full when there are oodles of GB's left - just bear that in mind.

I have always been concerned about backing up my laptop because most of what I do is on my laptop. I tried various medias such as DVD's, network back-up onto the server etc, but this little drive solved all my backup problems. It's simple, silent, light-weight, nice looking, easy to use, affordable and reliable - I couldn't ask for anything more. I will probably buy another one since it's light-weight to use as extra storage. As it's USB based, I can easily add many more of these little devils.

I am not too satisfied with only 1 year warranty though - they should provide at least 2 years warranty!
