My favorite camping resource 4 Sep 2009
By Water Cop - Published on Amazon.com

I was a tent camper for years, and this series of books "The Best in Tent Camping" has always been a wonderfully accurate resource in planning a camping trip. I especially enjoy the books Johnny Molloy has written. I use a small travel trailer now, but I still heavily rely on these books. Be warned that this book is not for those who can't live without cable tv, wireless internet, full hook-ups, hot showers, and all the other things that make us spoiled.
Okay Resource 23 Jun 2011

The tag line on this book is what attracted me and enticed me to purchase it: "A guide for car campers who hate RVs, concrete slabs, and loud portable stereos". The information about campgrounds was pretty accurate and has proven to be a useful resource, but the very first campground I chose from the book was nothing but one big RV campground. Loud stereos, campsites lit up like the fourth of July, and the constant hum of running RV were everywhere. I had to search long and hard to find a site that wasn't paved over and graveled over. Most of the spots were not appropriate for tents... which was a bit frustrating. However, I have found the book to be useful in helping me plan a last-minute getaway on my day off. I don't regret buying it, but I certainly hope I have better luck with other campgrounds.
