Though I've been a Liverpool supporter since '71 and though my friends and I used to laugh at West Ham down the years for their "pretty, pretty" football, as we used to call it, I've long had a sneaking admiration for the Hammers and their style of soccer. Their fans may have been scary - their football wasn't. I kind of first noticed them when I was 8 because they had a player, Clyde Best, who was the first black footballer I saw playing in England. It wasn't so much the fact that he was black or Bermudan that stood out to me, but the fact that he was a dead ringer of my Dad.
This video brought back many memories, especially of the '71 - '81 period. Match of the day have brought out a series of videos focusing on their coverage of particular clubs and this is easilly in the top 5. Shame the current West Ham team can't say the same ! It's pretty well put together and if you can find the ITV equivalent, you'll be in 70s + 80s Hammer heaven !
