Although I generally prefer to buy definative guides I still bought this one. A fantastic Rockfax compilation which although not a small 'pocket-size' (424 pages, 400ish grams, usual Rockfaz size)it has excellent topo and great panoramic photo's.
The volume is however unbiased in it's coverage and as the title would suggest is more breadth than depth (e.g; 10 pages for Chudleigh, 4 pages for Cheddar) but gives a good insight for all those areas you may not have visited via excellent panoramic photo's that are so vivid they actually inspire a visit to Cornwall. There is good coverage of sea-cliffs in this volume (e.g; Culm Coast 36 pgs, West Penwith 86 pgs, Torbay 18 pgs)
Having grown up with the Climbers Club 'South Devon and Dartmoor' which guided me in my early climbs it really beggars belief how far climbing guides have come on. When I look at pics of the areas there is no doubt as to exactly where the climbs are. The usual Rockfax legend (key) pervades through-out with good diagrams to guide you on the walk-in (I still wish they'd prodce a symbol for 'well-protected' routes though! ala 'On Peak Rock')
A good balance between breadth and depth and a must for the casual visitor to the South-West or any one contemplating a visit certainly worth considering for a regular too.
