4.0 out of 5 stars An age of darkness introduction to banking, 31 May 2001
This review is from: The Werewolf and the Wormlord (Chronicles of an Age of Darkness) (Paperback)
Enter... Alfric Danborg... Banker of third class and Yudonic Knight (yes; those with somewhat limited diplomatical skills). Enter also the ageing wormlord; minor and major lychantrops; a dragon poet; and the Ogre King Dimple Dumpling (also known as "He who walks in circles".

And do of course not forget "She who walks in the night" and your beyond average friendly assassin Nappy.

In this book - filled with humor and wit; You'll get to know Bankers Guild intimately; The drinking; boasting and maybe even fighting skills of Yudonic Knights... And once again meet the large personality of Justina Thrug. You'll meet Orks... Morgenstern and Cod... Who's here as ambassadors to the "once ork boiling" Yudonic Knights...

And you'll explore the rainy and gloomy and monster infested lands of the Yudonic Knights...

A good book; Funny on it's own and maybe even funnier as a part of the "Chronicles of an Age of Darkness".

4.0 out of 5 stars fantasy, politics and lycantrophy in Hugh Cooks Chronicles, 20 Jun 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Werewolf and the Wormlord (Chronicles of an Age of Darkness) (Paperback)
A stand alone book in Hugh Cooks fantasy world which can be read out of sequence with the other 9 books. It's a typical Hugh Cook with the usual bits of humour, insanity and anarchy with a dash of swords of sorcery thrown in. Its not as good as his other books in the series, (say #4 and #10) but nevertheless is an enjoyable light read with a few tense moments. A great book to read on a journey or a lazy sunday. A must for all Cook fans however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read the whole series - over and over an over, 9 July 2003
By MR TREVOR JONES - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Werewolf and the Wormlord (Chronicles of an Age of Darkness) (Paperback)
Excellent book. Hugh Cook's style of writing is so readable, intelligent and creative that it leaves the reader breathless. Awesome stuff. Ane there are TEN books in the series altogether. I rate these books as the best books I have ever read, not just within the fnatasy genre either. Knocks spots off Tolkien.
