Product Description

A band of specialist hunters face a terrifying creature that stalks the residents of a quiet rural village, in this horror from director Louis Morneau. With his village beset by an ancient and deadly predator, Daniel (Guy Wilson) joins forces with a mysterious group of professional hunters (Ed Quinn, Steven Bauer, Adam Croasdell) to finally hunt down the creature. But as the bloodletting rises, and the villagers start to turn on themselves as their neighbours transform, the group soon realise they're up against a fiercely formidable foe, and one that is more dangerous than they had ever imagined.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and dull CGI-fest 24 Oct 2012
By Simon
Format:DVD
A town is terrorised by a super-werewolf (that is, a werewolf that has the cunning of a human and has the potential to change at will), so a band of lone hunters are hired to kill the beast.

Let me start by saying that I have a thing for werewolf movies. Obviously, I like the classics such as American Werewolf in London, The Howling and Ginger Snaps. Aside from those notable titles there are also plenty of lesser-known movies that I also get a kick out of, such as Silver Bullet, The Beast of Bray Road, Mom ... Heck, I even found rubbish like the Howling VII and Blood of the Werewolf somewhat entertaining!

So, why the low rating for this movie then? I think that the problem with this one is that it's just plain dull. There's nothing to really hold the viewer's interest. It's as generic and cliched as possible. When a film is neither well done nor atrocious, the outcome is usually tedium, and Werewolf is a prime example of this.

I hasten to add that this isn't the kind of "good" genre movie where you just sit down with a beer and switch your brain off to enjoy some mindless, unchallenging trash. There are plenty of modest films like that out there (see The Beast of Bray Road as an example of a dumb, generic, but nonetheless entertaining romp). This movie, on the other hand, plays safe and refuses to give us anything to really have fun with. Whether it's the werewolf scenes (which are tame and done entirely with terrible CGI) or the characters or the overall plot... it's all average at best.

If you just want to watch a scary movie about people tracking down a monster then you'll be disappointed. The werewolf even becomes a sympathetic hero by the end, thus robbing the film of its edge.

3.0 out of 5 stars We need more werewolf movies 3 Nov 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
First thing I must say is i am confused why this movie got an 18 rating, the voilence is more implyed than seen, granted you see corpses and cut off limbs but certainly not to a degree to warrent such a high rating.

This movie is not great but it's not terrible either, sadly we don't get enough werewolf movie so if your in the mood for a werewolf movie this movie might satisy the craving but dont expect much as there is no real charactor development nor a real indepth story. it is not scary nor particuly gorry
I give this movie 5/10

4.0 out of 5 stars BORN TO KILL 27 May 2013
By Michael
Format:DVD
A group of werewolf bounty hunters, led by a man whose parents were killed by a werewolf in the first scene, come to the aid of an Eastern European town plagued by a super werewolf. In the village lives young Daniel (Guy Wilson) a doctor's apprentice who has studied the werewolf. He joins up with the team of experts to hunt the werewolf.

People who are bit by a werewolf and survive are called "wurdaleks," a zombie looking creature. To make the story interesting Nia Peeples is one of the hunters and Daniel has a love interest in Eva (Rachel DiPillo). Like all good werewolf movies, it has a gypsy.

The special effects are not the greatest, but get a passing grade. The smart storyline is the biggest attraction. The characters could have been better developed with better lines to make the film more interesting. Considering what has come out as late in the horror genre, this one is above the pack.

Parental guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity. I watched the unrated version, which apparently has more gore.

Not brilliant but turn your mind off, and enjoy an entertaining late night horror.

Not a classic but fun, especially if you like a werewolf

2.0 out of 5 stars PAW & CUT 17 Nov 2012
Format:DVD
Found this turgid and lycan it to one of those werewolf movies that are really howlers. The region 2 is cut but there is an unrated region 1 just make sure your player is multi region though it's not worth the effort in this case, in my opinion.

I bought this film since I am really into anything Lycanthropy based. Werewolves are fantastic designs and if implemented correctly can be a great concept for a film. I have seen a number of werewolf films now and there is a very limited number of them unfortunetly. When i saw this was on its way I was very excited since its been a while since a werewolf film has been released so my excitement was high but I didn't expect miracles either.

So, after watching the film I can say it was very disappointing and very average. The character cast act well in places but it's a predictable storyline. Some of the actors do a good job, others are terrible. The werewolf CGI works but only just. The filmography was pretty good, and i liked the fast pacing camera at times as you see through the eyes of the werewolf. Music also was pretty good.

Unfortunetly due to the poor acting in places (the protagonists girlfriend foremost), the film was not immersive, and furthermore character building was non existant so i couldn't really connect to it. A cheesy ending and way too much guts and gore to make it feel gritty or horrific, it became a bit hysterical at times..

We really need a top werewolf film but its just not happening! too many below par films.

4/10
