Speaking as a 'Valleys Girl', (perhaps a little 'over the hill' now), I loved David Jandrell's Welsh Valleys Characters. I'm sure I recognised many of the characters, and the tongue-in-cheek presentation kept me laughing. The best test of this kind of book is 'does it travel well?' It amused me on my train journey from Caerphilly to Cardiff, and back: so much so that I nearly missed my stop and would have ended up in Rhymney but for the kind intervention of a fellow traveller! How much fun do you usually get for under a fiver these days?
I've enjoyed all David Jandrell's books and recommend them highly.

Having just spent over two years living in the Welsh Valleys,I,Can say it was one of the most happy times of my life. And this book,brought all those happy times back again. I made some real friends there,and they do have a sence of humour. People can say what they like about the place,but don't knock it till you try it. And what better way to try,than get this book,It will have you laughing all way to work,if it dosn't show you how to avoid it.(work that is).Feeling down in the dumps?, This book will have you up on your feet in no time. Five star reading.
