As six-year-old Emma anticipates the birth of her new baby brother or sister, she vividly imagines all of the things they can do together. Emma feels ready to be a big sister! Once again, Stephanie Stuve-Bodeen has captured the hearts of children and parents! We'll Paint the Octopus Red starts out with Emma not being very excited about having a new brother or sister. Eventually, she and her dad think of all the things she could do with a new baby, and she becomes not only excited, but ready to be a big sister. When her father breaks the news to her that her new baby brother Isaac has Down syndrome, Emma worries that the new baby won't be able to do all those exciting things they had planned on. Through the eyes of a child, Emma's father quickly comes to terms with the fact that their lives, as a family and for Isaac, can still be rich and memories can still be made. Stuve-Bodeen's book is sure to comfort families facing this struggle, while also reminding all parents of the positives of raising children. I, for one, am grateful to read such an uplifting book to my child.

WE'LL PAINT THE OCTOPUS RED WAS A WONDERFUL BOOK. MY SON HAS DOWNS SYNDROME. HE IS NOW 18 HE ENJOYED READING THE BOOK. HE READ IT TO 3 CHILDERN WHO HAVE A BROTHER 7 MONTHS OLD WHO HAS DOWNS SYNDROME. I WISH MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE AS CONSERNED AS EMMA.THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL BOOK.

Very useful tool in how to educate siblings of children with DS. The illustrations are lovely too. Would recommend for any family or friends
