This is a short but punchy book by Frank Field, which draws useful comparisons between welfare policy and the need for welfare reform, from the 2 periods of the early twentieth century and the early 2000's. Already having the reputation of "thinking the un-thinkable", Frank Field uses (in the main essay)the 2 "Titans" of the title - Lloyd George and Gordon Brown to briefly discuss ideas on welfare reform. An interesting and stimulating book - easly read and full of useful references for anyone interested in the prickly subject of welfare reform
