Old London murder mayhem!,

If you like historical books, this certainly gives you a fantastic feel for old London. Jackson is so good at describing the surroundings that I started to feel I really was on the dark streets of London, walking through the stench and fog, with evil murderers around the corner doing the most foulsome things!I imagine it to be on similar lines to a fictional story written about Jack the Ripper (though I haven't read one). Very creepy, and as Inspector Webb has very little or no scientific aid, as people do today, you wonder how they manage to find anything out. It is all written in the present tense, I found this a little hard to get my head around at first, however, as with most forms of writing, you get used to it! Wonderful to read!

A good book, but an almost predictable plotline,

Having just finished this book, I feel a rating of 7 out of 10 would be proper, but as I'm limited to giving a rating of 5 or less I have opted for 4, after careful consideration.
This is a well written book, and although starting quite slowly, I felt myself being increasingly drawn in as it progressed. Some readers may find the writing style somewhat strange at first, but you quickly get used to it. The author has written this book in such a way that you develop an understanding and empathy with all of the main characters, and this is great. My main criticism of this story, however, is that from around the tenth chapter of so I felt I knew how the story would end. In the end, I was proved right, but not after many chapters of doubt! Saying that, this certainly added to the mystery. Please note, this is my first ever review of a book on Amazon, and as such this is probably pretty poor. This is also the only book by Lee Jackson that I have read to date. After reading this, I think I would like to read more.
