Product Description

When Elena Grayson’s divorced parents both remarry, she makes the most logical choice available: to travel across the country to East Clarington Academy, one of the best boarding schools in the United States. A loner with no ambition or desire to “fit in,” Elena has zero expectations for her fresh start. And then she meets Tristan Kent, East Clarington’s big-man-on-campus extraordinaire, the boy every girl dreams of having and the boy every guy dreams of being. The thing is, while he’s extremely irritating, totally obnoxious, and a complete egomaniac, Elena, for some reason, sort of likes him. Throw in the jealous Queen Bee and her followers, the jocks on the basketball team, and the general student population that somehow ebbs and flows with the popular crowd’s whims, and Elena is about to find out that navigating through her new school—and her new emotions—without going completely insane, might just be the greatest challenge of her life.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful. Just don't. 20 Dec 2011
By Ellie
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was originally online as a fanfiction, however, by the time I found it the story had been removed and published. It had nearly 13,000 reviews and the synopsis sounded good so I thought I may as well buy it, with that many reviews there's no way it could be bad - evidently there was a way. I really wish I hadn't bought this. The story reads like it has been written by an 11 year old girl who is still stuck in the 'boy Vs. girl' war. There is no character development and the fights between the 'goodies' and the 'badies' are so tacky and cheesy they make me literally cringe. The 'jokes' are about as funny as my 2 year old cousin's punchlines of 'banana' - without a joke before hand. The 'author' spends more time constructing the boarding school her characters attend than she has spent on making her story interesting. I urge everyone to stay far, far away from this book.

******Minor Spoiler - doesn't effect the story plot in any way*********

One of the interactions between the good and bad characters:
Good - 'You know what? Why don't you just go to the Bimbo Store and get three shirts that say Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest? It goes perfect with your personalities'...
Bad - 'How dare you insult us!'...
Good - 'Actually, we don't want to talk. Unlike you people, we have a life'

That's about as witty as this story gets.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible 20 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I wish I had read the other review before I started this book! It is absolutely correct, and I couldn't put it better myself.

This book honestly reads like it has been written by a child, the language is very juvenile, and the storyline is just non existent.

There are lots of books around at the moment which were formerly fanfiction, and I think pretty much all of them are better than this one. Just don't.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful. Just don't. 14 Aug 2012
By Ellie - Published on Amazon.com
I usually don't write bad reviews because what one person hates another could adore, however, this 'book' was so terrible that I just had to make an exception. 'Welcome to Drama Academy' was originally online as a fanfiction but by the time I found it the story had been removed and published. It had nearly 13,000 reviews and the synopsis sounded good so I thought I may as well buy it, with that many reviews there's no way it could be bad - evidently there was a way. The 'jokes' are about as funny as my 2 year old cousin's punchlines of 'banana' - without a joke before hand. The 'author' spends more time constructing the boarding school her characters attend than she has developing an actual plot line and making her story interesting. I urge everyone to stay far, far away from this book.

There are lines like 'Ha...Newbie' which are apparently so hilarious that they cause everyone to simultaneously burst into laughter

and various interactions such as:
'so...work out much?' Heather snickered and the crowd behind her burst into laughter.
'That's really none of your business'
Okay Newbie...just stay out of my way and we won't have a problem. If you don't, it's your funeral'

and

Good - 'You know what? Why don't you just go to the Bimbo Store and get three shirts that say Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest? It goes perfect with your personalities'...
Bad - 'How dare you insult us!'...
Good - 'Actually, we don't want to talk. Unlike you people, we have a life'

That's about as witty as this story gets.

3.0 out of 5 stars Review 27 Sep 2011

Great teenage novel with everything you could possibly want to read. Wonderful read that had me captivated from the start. A few typos and spelling mistakes throughout the novel, giving a slightly less professional impression. It is a wonderful book, even if there are spelling mistakes and definitely worth the read.
