This is my favourite song of all time!
It starts off quite slow, which is nice and without many instruments which means you can really hear Gerard's [singer] voice clearly. He has an amazing voice, so you really appreciate all of it through the first half verse. Then, in true MCR fashion, it picks up and let me tell you, if the second half of the first verse [ha bit confusing there!] doesn't get you tapping your feet or fingers, they you can't HAVE any feet or fingers! More instruments come in and the beat becomes quite fast. Then in bursts Gerard and this is my favourite part of the whole song. He gives it his all, as do the rest of the band, and if you know the words you feel like putting all your heart and soul into it and belt it out along with Gerard! This carries on until there is a small section where Gerard's singing gets intense and loud, which is phenonmanal [...I know how to spell! :p], before resorting to a final H-U-G-E chorus!
As for the lyrics, anyone who calls this a typical "emo" song [how people can label a song as emo I don't understand, if a song isn't emotional...it isn't really a song is it?! Certainly not a good one!] is an idiot! Lines taken from this song include "We'll carry on", "the world will never take my heart" and "defiant till the end" which completley defeats the idea that this is an "emo" song, ie. depressing and dark. So the person below who gave it 1*, obviously hasn't actually listened to the song, he can't have done, if he thinks it's the "emo" stereotype!
I NEVER get fed up of this song, and recently have started listening to the other track on the single CD, which isn't on the album, "Heaven Help Us", which is nothing short of brilliant and a pleasure to listen to.
And as long as MCR are around, I will never be bored!
Please give it a shot, you won't regret it.
