This is not The Ataris, at least not as we know them. Both lyrically and mucically the writings of Kris Roe and intrinsically John Collura have moved on, almost into a whole new genre. Gone are the love-sick, angst-ridden melodramas of Kris's youth, they have been replaced with more mature emotions, thoughts and feelings, lyrics to savour and melodies to grow into, songs that will evolve with repeated listenings. This CD is a huge step into a different direction, the bell may be tolling for fans who want the End to be Forever, but for The Ataris to grow and mature it will prove to be an essential step towards a better future!

After having a leaked copy of this album, i will definatly be buying the finished artical. The ataris have come back with a new melodic sound that will have you hooked within second. The single not capable of love is a catchy song with well thought lyrics nothing short of what u would expect from frontman Kris Roe. The album also contains the upbeat Cheyenne Line and secret handshake about Kris' fathers inolvement with a cult, both also as brilliant. There are still plenty of Kris' raw emotion still conveyed in the songs which ataris fans seem to love so tirelessly. If you like the likes of death cab for cutie this is also right up your street but Ataris fans will not be dissapointed.

I agree with what has been written in the reviews before this. It is a departure for a band that made its name in the pop punk scene of late 90's early 00's, but they have not lost the feeling in their music that makes them 'the ataris'. This is due to Kris Roe (the frontman), he always was a great lyricist and song writer, and his unique voice, passion and sentiments are still evident on this album. It makes it not as un-ataris as some people are making out. The album sounds like a band that has matured (which it has). Broken out of the stagnant mold that was their music scene, and joined the ranks of great musicality. This album is well worth a listen if you enjoy well crafted song structure and great lyrical poetry. I'm pleased I bought it, can't give a much better recommendation than that.

A Different Ataris
Very different from any of the Ataris' other albums. The first 2-3 times i heard it, it didnt like it. As i listened to it more though... I started loving it. Read more

Iv heard two songs from this album, Not capable of love and Connections are more dangerous than lies and they are both solid songs with catchy choruses. Read more
