Reviews

A crashed American flier, two South Korean soldiers and three North Korean soldiers all end up in an innocent remote village untouched by the civil war raging in the rest of the country, but it isn't long before violence threatens the peaceful village.

A wonderful little film that touches both the heart and the head with some truly magical moments

A great movie looking at various takes on war , several critics on here obviously didn't have a clue regarding the sentiments within the movie or what the director was doing with the emotions seen in war.

Miss this movie at your loss , touching , funny , sad , serious .... but always enjoyable.

I can't believe how amazing this film is and why I've never heard of it before. If you blank out the odd scene/s with the American acting it is a perfect film to watch and enjoy. The American actors seem to have just been plucked from junior high bringing the film down to a 3 star, but just try to ignore them and it becomes a 5 star movie. Must see this film, I loved the boar hunt camera work totally original and bizarre!

Wow, what an amazing film! A truly remarkable juxtaposition of gritty war drama and gentle, magical comedy, with amazing cinematography, great characters, in the current popular genre of tangled tales (a cross between 'Brotherhood' and 'Everything is Illuminated' on the set of Shangri-La) with a wonderful splash of humour that pulls you into the story and keeps you enticed until the very end, and boy what an ending!

Korea is really making some of the best films of the 21st century so far. This mixes war with fantasy, it's brutal and magical. One of the most ENJOYABLE movies out there at the moment. A definate keeper with some decent extras too.

This is a magical little film that whilst full of cliches is nevertheless worth watching.

It throws a few stray combatants from both sides of the Korean conflict into a village which is a kind of Shangri-la where guns are not known to most of the inhabitants. In different ways it explores the really bizare nature of war and how our primitive instincts can drive us for good and bad - to cowardice and heroism. Some of the photography is especially beautiful.
