Product Description

A book designed to be the ultimate guide to creating the robot costume of your dreams from objects that would normally get thrown away or recycled. --Creative Review

Viviane Schwarz mixes genres effortlessly. This one is part comic story, part manual. And it's a wholly engaging way to furnish kids with ways to think out of the box, literally. --Varoom Magazine

It's terrific fun and its as beautiful as you'd expect considering Nobrow's love for everything print. --The Fox is Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Your Awesome Robot is an Awesome Book. 30 Mar 2013
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
We are 8 days into an at-home vacation and getting to the "Moooom, I'm boooooored..." part of things. Then this book was delivered which I'd forgotten I pre-ordered. Within 10 minutes of its arrival my kids (my son is 7.5, my daughter is 11.5) pulled all the cardboard boxes out of the recycling and disappeared into their "workshop" to start building robots. They were frustrated at first that we didn't have any boxes big enough for them to wear, but I suggested "mini-robots" for the meantime and they were satisfied with some that were cereal box-sized. Other than the occasional requests for more materials (packing tape, scissors, art supplies) I have not heard from them since, and it's been hours. They are fully engaged in creating, building, and problem-solving. They aren't even bickering. Best money I've spent all year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly awesome ... 8 April 2013

Within five minutes of opening the package with Welcome to Your Awesome Robot my daughter and her friend were starting to cut up a box and make their robot. The instructions were easy to follow for eight year olds, and actually made a pretty cool robot costume.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Family Fun Time 4 Jan 2014
By Lisa - Published on Amazon.com

My 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son could not wait to start work on their own robots after reading this book! It was a great 'screen' free (ipad, computer, tv) family activity.

The story is about a package coming in the mail in a big box. The box only has one small book in it with an instruction manual on how to build a robot.

It includes a lot of great ideas to get the kids imagination going on what features they want on their own cardboard human powered robot.
4.0 out of 5 stars Cute story 12 Dec 2013

Not a bad book. Gave a cute back-line about building a robot from cardboard boxes. My 5-year-old daughter looked at it once, got the gist, and never looked back.
5.0 out of 5 stars Spent a whole day building a robot 2 Aug 2013

I got this for my son on his seventh birthday--he read the book several times before he was ready to build the robot. The book is entertaining and cute and just at the right reading level. Then we worked for a day building the robot--he was engaged and excited and still (a month later) has the robot in his closet and puts it on occasionally.
