5.0 out of 5 stars Great follow up 15 Sep 2011

Great follow up the the original nightmare. Has true classic Alice sound. Great story. Alice show his usual creativity and tongue in cheek lyrics. The guest appearances also add a lot of flavor. Two thumbs way up"
5.0 out of 5 stars One Hell of an Album 20 Jan 2012

It's important to note in my review that I'm in my 20's and have been a Cooper fanatic since my freshman year of high school. I've listened to almost every song he's produced and own most of his albums, and always get a little giddy when he announces that he's working on new material. That being said, when he announced that his new album was going to be a sequel to Welcome to my Nightmare, one of my absolute favorite albums, I had some high expectations, especially after being a little let down with Along Came a Spider, the album he produced prior to this one. Then he announced that the title would be "Welcome 2 My Nightmare," which scared me a little bit. The original was dark, intriguing, and a little trippy from time to time, and adding "2" to replace the "to" in the title felt a bit... off. I went into my first listening of the album not entirely knowing what to expect, but with a few ideas of what I'd like from it, and I was completely blown away, but not in a way I thought I'd be. Welcome 2 My Nightmare is still dark and intriguing, but where the original album took a more serious approach, 2 runs in the complete opposite direction and is so fun, clever and ridiculous that I can't help but love it. Songs like "Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever" and "Last Man on Earth" and many more tracks on this album feel so un-Alice Cooper that they end up fitting right in. After the sublimely powerful "I am Made of You," the album becomes a roller coaster ride of ridiculousness, and I love every minute of it. The whole album is just as much of an experience as the its predecesor was 36 years ago, even if that experience is strikingly different. As cliche as it is to say this, they really don't make them like this anymore, and it goes without saying that this have become one of my all time favorite albums. If you're an old Coop fan or new to his material and are looking for an album to kick start your library, you owe it to yourself to invest in Welcome 2 My Nightmare.

And if you can, definitely go for the vinyl.
5.0 out of 5 stars Up there with any of his greatest L.P.'s 19 Oct 2011

I agree about the disappointment of multiple choices for purchase. I bought 3 different variations. The vinyl is the most satisfying, for all the usual reasons. This is worth the wait to hear Ezrin & A.C. together again. Proves B.E. had as much to do with the greatness of A.C. as anyone else ever involved. The production is on par with the original line-up era creativity. That says ALOT considering they made "school's out" together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
