Product Description

Review

A fun and educational collection of facts about all sorts of things, but it is not what you might expect from the title. There are no ghosts or aliens, no world record breakers or any of the sort of things you find in Ripley'sBelieve It Or Not. No, this is trivia about the unusual world around us and about ourselves as well. . . .This book is highly recommended. --Blogcritics

5.0 out of 5 stars This tome is jam-packed full of stuff you've never learned in school,or anywhere else. 30 Sep 2012
By J. Guild - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The title is not really indicative of what this book is really all about.I expected it to deal with the real Weird stuff, even more so than some of the "stuff" you get from "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" But this is not the case.It deals more with normal everyday things, but shows how little we realy understand or know about things that are all around us and part of our everyday life. Many things that we take for granted or perhaps never really gave much thought to;are in fact very different than most people think or believe.
The book is filled with hundreds of ordinary things that you never knew. The book has 209 pages,is very well constructed and printed on excellent paper.
Palmer sorts out all these interesting facts and organizes them in 12 chapters.
Food & Drink
Love & Sex
Friends & Family
Mind
Body
Work
Play
Around The House
Out & About
Insects
Animals
And,
Nature.
At the back of the book,a detailed section gives the sources of all the facts presented in the book and organized by chapter;making it easy for anyone who wants to verify anything in the book or to delve further into the subject.
I could choose a fact from any page as an indication of some of the surprising things in this book.So,here is an example;

"Flip-flops seem harmless, but they might be messing you up with every step.Doctors advise that the spongy material and weak arch support in most pairs of flip-flops can cause feet to roll inward, leading to potential injury and flat feet. One study found that many flip-flop wearers grip their toes as they take a step, which leads to a shorter stride."
This book will not only entertain you but will amaz you and increase your knowledge of many ordinary things around you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Facts Aren't as Weird As They're Advertised. 19 Aug 2013
By Karyn S. Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I would say that what I've read so far has been extremely informative and fascinating. However, going by the title, I was
expecting some really weird stuff. There are some a bit weird but mostly just unusual. I would recommend this book
because of it's filled chock full of brief, entertaining and non-fiction stories.

Another one of my favorite topics. It is good. Not quite what I expected, but, still very entertaining. Think most "weirdo" will appreciate it.
