Lots of smelly gas and some floating fat in the toilet 22 Jun 2007
By medcat2009 - Published on Amazon.com
I started taking alli 3 days ago and today was the first time I noticed anything different happening with my body. First, I had to go to the bathroom really bad after my breakfast+alli and there were floating drops of fat. Then, I cannot stop passing really nasty smelling gas, and I'm continuously afraid to pass gas for fear I will pass something more. However, seeing the fat come out kind of makes me happy. Fat is good for you, but I don't mind sending a bit of it down the shute. This experiment is pretty cool so far. And it does make me watch what I eat a little more. But make sure you don't just eat empty carbs now, you still need your complex carbs, your lean meat and your veggies and fruits. That's my goal. I know this is kind of gross, but it's an honest review from someone who is using this pill. I also checked out [...] for info about orlistat before starting. You should do it too. Especially pay attention to metabolism, interactions and adverse events.

Side Effects without the Weight Loss 22 Jan 2010

Alli Weight Loss Aid / B000OWN65U

I've been faithful to a low-fat, low-calorie diet for over a year now, but the weight loss has been slow going - my family metabolism just seems to be *really* efficient and fights giving up every single pound. I would really like something safe and effective to help me along, and my doctor refused to even let me try any other weight loss pills on account that the stimulants could be damaging to a pre-existing heart flutter.

Alli seemed promising, though, so I thought I'd try it. I was a little concerned about the side effects, because they didn't sound, ah, *pleasant*, but I noted that the Alli literature said:

"Treatment effects can be lessened if you stick to reduced-calorie, low-fat meals that average 15 grams of fat per meal."

Well, now, that sounded a lot more promising. I track my diet religiously, and I know for a fact that I hit that bar every single day, so maybe the "lessened" treatment effects won't be so bad for me.

The first few weeks on Alli, it didn't seem so bad. I had a LOT of "oh, gosh, must get to bathroom NOW" moments, but this was more like urgent diarrhea than any kind of "leakage", so it wasn't a huge problem. I *do* work outside the home during the day, but I can pretty much get up and go to the restroom whenever I want, so it wasn't a big deal. If I had a meeting, or something I couldn't easily excuse myself out of, I just wouldn't take Alli around that time and I'd have a no-fat lunch that day to compensate, but I *always* took Alli for breakfast and dinner, without fail. During those first few weeks, I also didn't lose any weight. I stayed on my diet and exercise program as before, but Alli didn't really make a difference.

I was disappointed that Alli wasn't providing the kind of results that a lot of the other online users were seeing, but I was happy to keep seeing it through. Recently, though, the side effects have gotten MUCH worse and more noticeable - there's an oily "leakage" that keeps up inconveniently and some of my clothes have been soiled. The leakage smells truly terrible, and is very hard to remove from the skin - trying to scrub it off with toilet paper is akin to trying to remove baby oil with a paper towel - it just seems to spread. My skin is raw from the constant cleaning, and I'm not ashamed to give up the good fight on Alli. I gave it a good go, and finally decided that the treatment effects just weren't worth the trouble, even if I had been losing weight, which I wasn't.

I don't know that my review will be helpful to anyone else, since everyone's body is different, and maybe Alli will 'click' with your body and you'll experience a great weight loss product. I just wanted to weigh in that if you're thinking - like I did - that a low fat diet will prevent the worst of the treatment effects, I can honestly say that was not the case for me, personally, but of course your mileage may vary. Good luck!

Wear a diaper if you are going to eat fat! 11 Jan 2008

Yes, this week I've been eating low fat, exercising 1.5-2 hours each day and watching the calorie intake. I also follow Weight Watchers.

Even though I did not pass the recommended fat intake per meal yesterday, I had an awful surprise this morning. Two changes of clothing and having to wear a maxi pad the rest of the day has me rethinking this diet plan. All of this trouble today for having used 1 tablespoon of olive oil in an entire dish of mostly vegetables and poached chicken last night? geez

I naturally eat low fat, but wanted an extra something to help get rid of this weight. I'm thinking now that this is not for me. Thank goodness I don't have a job and was at home.

Oh and I had to clean the chair I was sitting in as well...keep that in mind before using this product.
