Weetabix original is a fantastic breakfast cereal which, when combined with fruit, nuts and seeds, provides the perfect start to the day. Weetabix Golden Syrup is, unfortunately a non-starter. The beauty of Weetabix is its wholesome goodness and its versatility. If you want it plain, and I've eaten it on its own by the bucket-load, then it tastes good and gives you the sense of righteousness that only one-hundred percent whole wheat can do! If you wish to make it sweeter and more varied, there are a number of natural additions that you can make which fit the bill perfectly, and still make you feel particularly good about your choice of breakfast. By adding Golden Syrup, Weetabix have not only made a product that does not taste as good, but they have also introduced refined sugar to what is, after all, an incredibly healthy choice while at the same time removing the breakfaster's ability to tailor the taste and sweetness to their own liking - a big mistake in my eyes. The choice is a simple one: Weetabix on its own, Weetabix with a little added natural goodness or no Weetabix at all.

I am a fan of the standard Weetabix, but I do like to try something a bit different from time to time.

There is a definite Syrup taste to them, but without being sweet. They are also a little more milk-proof than the normal biscuits and they tend to keep their texture a little longer which was nice. I really liked them, but for some reason, probably habit, I will stick to the normal Weetabix, but with a box of these thrown in from time to time.

Just as normal Weetabix, a good healthy breakfast cereal.

basically this is weetabix with a sweet taste. if you were like me as a kid then you put sugar on your weetabix. thesedays I do not. this is essentially adding sugar to it, and to be honest I could take or leave. If your looking for that element then buy it, but to be honest if your looking for a healthier option just stick to the regular kind. its not massivly sweet, you can tell its golden syrup but its not over powering

I wasn't sure about these. I'm a bit of a breakfast purist and, as I consider Weetabix to be one of the better ones I've been force-feeding (not really!) my children plain Weetabix since weaning. However, I do have to admit that they aren't the most exciting of cereals so added golden syrup seemed tempting. The children certainly liked it as they were sweeter and slightly toffee flavoured. As an adult, they were too sweet for my taste and I wouldn't buy them for myself. I'm undecided about these. May buy them again to give them another chance but I wasn't bowled over.

I was really looking forward to these Weetabix. You know something different. And 1st there was the strange smell when you open them. I added my milk and a wee bit of sugar. The golden syrup flavour was almost like burnt sugar. I continued to was eat and the tease of the burn sugar just turned me off. I did not finish it. Really really disappointed.

I like weetabix and have always liked the way you can jazz them up with yoghurt, raisins and blueberries. I am also guilty of loading them with sugar, so I thought these might be nice. However, the taste is odd- it doesn't really taste like golden syrup. just rather artificial and is not quite sweet enough. My children, who absolutely love golden syrup on porridge described these as "gross." I wouldn't go that far and didn't them, but wouldn't buy in the future.

As a kid I used to love having my weetabix breakfast and often supplemented the weety goodness with a drizzle (or river) of golden syrup, so was quite excited to discover this new variety of the classic cereal.

Thing is it just isn't as good as adding actual golden syrup to normal weetabix, it's slightly sweeter so you don't need to add any sugar or syrup but also you're paying extra and out of control of the sugar content for a halfway house from the original.

It's not bad but I think I'd rather just return to my roots.

Like a lot of children who grew up in the 60's cereals replaced the traditional foods for breakfast.
The other stalwart was a treacle sandwich. A working class treat of Golden syrup spread on to buttered bread.
Messy but a sugar rush (not crush) hit.

Back to cereals.
Weetabix was one of the first I tried.

Weetabix tastes good and is good for you- all that fibre and added vitamins and such like the only trouble I found is that I had to add sugar and keep on adding which was not very good for you and negated the benefits of eating Weetabix.

So I came to this cereal with an open mind.

I admit I was really impressed.
The golden syrup taste permeates the biscuits and gives a really good taste.
It's a bit like Goldilocks- not too sweet and just right.

This saves my using the sugar bowl repeatedly.

Overall?

If your kids like Weetabix or even you for that matter and you like the taste of Golden Syrup then this is the cereal for you.

It really does taste Great. (To borrow a phrase from another rival cereal firm.)
