Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Weetabix were a big part of childhood for me, although I remember them as quite dry and bland - but when sprinkled with sugar and drenched in warm milk, were quite a pleasant start to a winter day.

Nowadays there is a far wider range of cereals available, even from the same brand and personally, I now favour Weetabix's Crunchy Bran, which provides more fibre and compares favourably at 350 calories per 100 grams. Weetabix with chocolate comes in at 368 calories per 100 grams - but this is still better than Oatibix's 397 or something like Alpen at 371.

With warm milk, these biscuits go very soggy and lose all their texture, but they do taste as nice as the sugared Weetabix of my childhood. The large, shaped biscuits are easier to portion out - two of them give you the recommended 45g serving - whereas with other types of cereal there can be a tendency to pour out too much and then you don't put it back and end up eating more than you meant to.

I can see these appealing to children with a sweet tooth and parents who are short of time - just plonk two in a bowl and add milk - couldn't be easier. But adults might want to consider cereals with more fibre and less sugar - although these might become a guilty pleasure, as "comfort food" on a cold winter's day.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I must admit from the Vine newsletter pictures I had expected something more like cereal biscuits I'd take with me on a hike so was a little surprised to see a variation on a breakfast cereal turn up. No matter, it's been a while since I had Weetabix for breakfast and back in the days of my childhood I remember quite liking them.

When I saw the box my first thought was that they were going to be loaded down with sugar, probably sweeteners, and taste very artificial. As it happened I found they tasted rather nice. The ingredients do include sugar fairly near the top but they don't taste excessively sweetened, and the chocolate taste is pleasing, striking a balance between an artificially enhanced flavour and the truly foul flavours associated with things that are described as "chocolate flavour". For good measure they also contain a number of small pieces of chocolate within each biscuit - this was an unexpected surprise.

I got this product as a free sample through the Vine program, although when the packet is empty it is a product I would buy.

Edit (28 Jan). Having now eaten them two more times (27 and 28 Jan) they've grown on me more. Both my wife and I like them, and will definitely buy them again. Upgraded to 5 stars.

My 13 year old grandson demolished these over two breakfasts: clearly left to him they would merit 5 stars! I was unaware how quickly he demolished them until I found the empty packet! I have reservations about a breakfast cereal with chocolate but I know it is sometimes difficult to get children to eat breakfast so this would be better than nothing. I have given it 3 stars to reflect my caution but I am sure they taste great; unfortunately I did not get an opportunity to test them!

No matter how much I've tried having weetabix regularly (it's supposed to be good for you right?), I have failed. It's like eating shaved cardboard. But I thought maybe the chocolate version might be better. It is a massive improvement in flavour, and less unpleasant to eat. But for me it's the texture which gives it away as being weetabix and I don't think I will take to this one any more. Four stars though for the idea and I think it will suit avid shaved cardboard consumers by giving more choice.

I've never had Weetabix before so found it a bit hard at first to get it started. After putting on a bit of milk, I broke it down and started eating it. It's lovely and chocolatey, nice wheaty texture, a bit soggy but there you go. I loved the chocolate flavour, however it left me hungry after an hour. So it needs bulking out with maybe a banana or something. Either way, it wasn't bad!

It is Weetabix breakfast cereal with added chocolate and sugar.
It does taste quite nice but probably too sweet for my complete liking but I am tending towards 3 stars more than 2.
Not bad but oh so sweet.

This is exactly what you might expect. That breakfast favourite, Weetabix with chocolate bits built in. The chocolate is quite sweet but it makes a good combination with the biscuit.

My kids love it.

I really like Weetabix but do like to add fruit to them for additional sweetness. These chocolate Weetabix are not full of chocolate like some chocolate based cereals. There was sufficient chocolate to be tasted without making it an overly sweet breakfast. I particularly enjoyed them with the serving suggestion of a sliced banana.

My husband on the other hand did not find them chocolatey enough and described the taste as bitter, so I would question whether children and those with sweet tooth would enjoy these.

I have, however, already been out and bought another box for me!
